    Hi
I was looking to get hold of a copy of the Australia 31-0 American Samoa mactch, on DVD. Ive looked around in the UK, but no luck, I was wondering if anyone in Oceania had a copy, I could get hold of which would be compatable with UK (Region 2) DVD player.

    Thanks

There's a highlights video on YouTube.

As to your original question, try the SBS as they are the WC rights holders in AUS & Oceania.

Here's their current merchandising site: http://www.theworldgame.com.au/merchandise/ but you could email them about your search.

If no luck, try to contact Les Murray (their sporting director) through the site.

    Good luck.

Nah, FIFA shafting its bastard child (the OFC) numerous times (in every way possible) is much lower. :(

Considering Australia beat Tonga 20-0 only 3 days before this game it's even sadder.

from the highlights it seemed like the defenders literally didnt care and were just walking around for fun. i dont think this can be classified as a match because one side was just walking around and was not playing... like how you are playing for fun with your friends and mess around. and wow the keeper, its like he wanted to be scored on because i could have saved some of those goals easily.

I think the scoreboard attendant heard the full time whistle and just assumed it was another goal:D

Most of the guys came to Australia without boots. I think they thought they were on a cheap holiday. I actually watched the game in full on tv and I can let you know that Australia could have scored even more goals if they tried hard. As a World Cup qualifier, which this match was, it was a complete farce.

I read in an interview with the AS coach that many of these players had never played in a full 90 minute game before the 02 qualifiers. I mean, this is an island of 60,000 where American football, rugby, basketball, and baseball take precedence over soccer. Their soccer league is pretty much run like your local recreational youth leagues, as you can pretty much get a bunch of kids together to form a team a week before the league starts to play "top flight" football.

Not exactely. Players with wheelchair can defeat American Samoa like 50-0 and inn America Samoa they don't even know what football is.

Yes you're correct. It was a strange 5 nation group. We managed the following results.

    April 9 Australia 22 Tonga 0
    April 11 Australia 31 American Samoa 0
April 14 Australia 2 Fiji 0 (Fiji were ok at the time)
    April 16 Australia 11 Western Samoa 0

Total for and against in 4 games 66-0.

Actually I remember that one of the Aussie players said the American Samoa goalkeeper was their best player as he saved some other shots to prevent it going towards 40-0 ... Great quote that was :)

Still I do respect teams like San Marino or American Samoa. These guys play purely for fun and for the love of the game, sacrifice their holidays at work to go playing, and despite the losses and never getting paid they still go for it each game. I respect that a lot, no matter what score there may be. I doubt if the stars of the game would bother to show up without getting paid. So in a way, I think the guys playing for minnows like Luxembourg, Samoa or Mongolia (to name just a few) deserve as much respect as the big professional stars.
