    Guenther Fuerhoff

Fuerhoff played forward for his first Bundesliga season then switched to midfield for the rest of his BL career, which was spent entirely with Rot-Weiss Essen(1969-71 and 1973-77), so he gets some loyalty points. Of his six seasons in the league five were played as a lineup regular and one can therefore imagine that the other campaign, in which he only saw action on occasion, must have been limited by something like a serious injury. For his entire career he managed to appear in 153 matches with 20 goals scored and 6 assists handed out; he also picked up 4 yellow cards(but nothing worse). When Essen got relegated in 1971 and 1977 he stayed on board until 1978 when he left for 2nd division Wuerzburg where he played out the last couple years of his profi career.

I think I missed this pic when I posted a profile of Lindner in an earlier version of this thread so now I'm adding this shot.

See how young Mill looks here with Essen compared to his appearance throughout his later Bundesliga career with Gladbach, Dortmund and Duesseldorf.

Boeninghausen looks a little younger with Essen than he will with Dortmund and Bochum but not much.

Lund is another Rot-Weiss Essen player that will go on to bigger and better things in the Bundesliga(with Fortuna Duesseldorf).

After previously posting the profile of Hanisch with a photo of the player in his TeBe Berllin days we now go back in time a few years to when he was counted as a member of the Hertha BSC Berlin team.

Having already profiled Mr. Hoffmann in an earlier edition of BPotP I now supplement that post with this pictorial addition. He looks pretty scary in this shot but then this is Halloween season.

I did a profile on Bruckhoff a while(and several threads)back including a pic that showed him in the uniform of Darmstadt 98. Here in this shot he wears the colors of Tennis Borussia Berlin.

Maybe the best of these Janzon pics - the player wears the royal blue of Schalke 04 in this lone photo - .

    One More Siegfried Kessler Pic

Kessler looks like he is in boot camp in this pic. Also, those blue eyes stick out like a sore thumb, if I may put it that way.

Manfred Mueller 1, Horst Hrubesch 0

On the 9th of June, 1978, and while playing in the Georg-Melches-Stadion in Essen, GK Manfred Mueller saved a late penalty from Horst Hrubesch and preserved a tie between Nuernberg and home side Rot-Weiss, thus insuring the Bavarian side a place in the Bundesliga for the following season.

This Time Georg Volkert Beats Manfred Mueller

Goalkeeper Mueller is caught going the wrong way by Volkert, whose penalty conversion gives VfB Stuttgart a 2:0 lead vs. the Nuernbergers. Meanwhile, I wonder what Volkert's nickname, "Schorsch", means.

Manfred Mueller and Norbert Eder vs. Dieter Mueller

From the 4th Spieltag, September 1978, Nuernberg keeper Manfred Mueller appears to have stopped a scoring attempt by Dieter Mueller of FC Koeln/Cologne. Norbert Eder of Nuernberg is to the right. The white shirts won this match by 2:0 at the Muengersdorferstadion.

Manfred Mueller and Peter Stocker vs. Benny Wendt

October, 1978: Nuernberg loses 3:0 to home side Kaiserslautern. Manfred Mueller manages in this pic to contend with Benny Wendt and clear the ball at the same time while teammate Peter Stocker is close by on the right.

Manfred Muelller(on the left, in the light shirt), Juergen Taeuber and Nuernberg's trainer Gebhardt walk to the locker room at halftime of a match played against HSV on the 19th of May, 1979. The match ended 3:3.

A Pair of Joern Andersen Action Pics

The first pic probably doesn't need much explanation(and wasn't given much of an explanation, either). In the second pic Andersen battles Toni Schumacher in midair in a match won 3:0 by Nuernberg over FC Koeln/Cologne during the 1985-86 season.

Bertram Beierlorzer Celebrates With a Teammate

The teammate in question is Alfred Steinkirchner and the celebration is about Nuernberg's defeat of Essen in the promotion/relegation playoff in 1978 won by FCN thereby guaranteeing that club a place in the Bundesliga for the following season.
