    Sorry if this is slightly off topic but USA captain Carlos Bocanegra , USA midfielders Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya all played college soccer and now play for one of the biggest clubs in world football , Glasgow Rangers but I'm unsure if any of those players completed 4 years at college?

    Bedoya played four seasons of college soccer; he spent his first two at Fairleigh Dickinson and his final two at Boston College. Bocanegra (UCLA) and Edu (Maryland) each played three seasons.

    Other players abroad who played college soccer include Tottenham's Ryan Nelsen (4 Stanford) and Brad Friedel (3, UCLA), Fulham's Clint Dempsey (3@ Furman), Bolton's Tim Ream (4 Saint Louis) and Stuart Holden (2 Clemson), Sporting's Oguchi Onyewu (2 Clemson), Tigres' Jonathan Bornstein (4 UCLA), Aston Villa's Brad Guzan (2@ South Carolina) and Hannover's Steve Cherundolo (2 @Portand).

    Not too sure I agree with that statement?!

    Currently;
    • In administration
    • still a threat of liquidation
    • may need to form a new company
    • debts estimated at $200m (unpaid taxes, unpaid debts to other clubs, etc, etc)
    • banned from signing any players over 18yrs old for 12 months
    • further sanctions still being considered by the SPL
    • players needing to take 25 - 75% salary cuts to keep the club afloat
    • banned from Europe next year and possibly banned from Europe for 3 years

    They have just been "saved" by Charles green, previous CEO of Sheffield United in England, a club who actually made up a song for him which included the line;

    "CHARLES GREEN – he sells our team"

    And to quote;

    “Some key players were sold behind the managers back as we chased promotion. That was where the chant came from, ‘Charles Green, he sells our team’.
    “When he left he needed a police escort out of the stadium, such was the bad feeling against him from the fans.
    “I heard he’d re-surfaced at Rangers and I was surprised.
    “I’m not sure why he was so keen to sell off our assets. I just think he was in it for himself, or someone else behind him.
    “He certainly didn’t have the interests of United at heart.”

    And some interestig articles on this saga here;

    http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/...endary-soccer-team-struggling-to-stay-afloat/

    http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/...occer-fans-to-american-savior-no-thanks-yank/

    So honestly, not too sure they fall into "one of the biggest clubs in world football"...............??????

    But everyone to their own opinion I suppose :geek:

    You have taken the thread completely off topic but I simply had to respond as my comment isn't a matter of opinion. I was merely stating a generally accepted and well documented fact.

    Rangers FC
    Attendances

    • Record British league attendance: 118,567 (against Celtic, won 2–1, Ibrox Park (H), 2 January 1939).
    • Record Scottish Cup attendance: 143,570 (against Hibernian, won 1–0, Hampden Park (N), 27 March 1948).
    • Record League Cup attendance: 125,154 (against Hibernian, won 3–1, Hampden Park (N), 22 March 1947).
    • Record European attendance: 100,000 (against Dynamo Kiev, lost 1–0, Respublikanskiy Stadium (A), 16 September 1987).
    • Record home League Cup attendance: 105,000 (against Celtic, won 2–1, 16 October 1948).
    • Record home European attendance: 85,000 (against Leeds United, draw 0–0, 26 March 1968).

    And I was only responding to a post which you submitted, which I feel was very inaccurate and surely I have a right to air my opinion on that?

    You followed that up with data for a team, based on games played in the main 50 - 70 years ago :D

    But if that is the evidence from 50-70 years ago, then I would absolutley accept that they may have been one of the biggest teams back then..................but not now TBH, based on all of the issues and legal wranglings, current world soccer results, Rangers Euro performances, etc, etc and the fact that the league they play in is genrally classed as extremely poor by not only British but European standards

    But as I say, all about opinions as most of soccer is really
