Well, I don't post much here but I lurk around from time to time, anyway I was wondering what Players would you use in the next Edition of Copa America (Which i hope we do GREAT)? This would be my starting 11:

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Caicedo, Benitez, Montero, Noboa, Quiroz, Valencia, W. Ayovi, Morante, Guagua, Nazareno, Banguera[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

    Subs:
    GK:
    Elizaga, Lanza

    DF:
    Reasco, Paredes, Checa, Mina

    MF:
    Saritama, Miller Bolanos, Guerron, Arroyo

    FW:
    Jaime Ayovi, Cazares

Of course I am not limited to these guys as I would also like to see Norberto Araujo(?), J Hurtado, Mendez, Walter Chala, Marlon De Jesus

I rate Arroyo higher than Montero for the left side right now. It doesn't help Montero that he plays 10 minutes every match. Also if Mendez is getting regular PT he starts.

Tactically, depending on the opponent, we might do a 4-5-1 with Guerron on the right and Valencia playing more inside, leaving either Benitez or Caicedo up front.

I almost completely agree with you on the midfield. Montero is pure class and is much better than arroyo, note im not saying arroyo sucks, he is in fact a great player but Montero is just class.

    XI
    GK- Dany Cabezas
    RB- Neicer Reasco
    CB- Norberto Araujo
    CB- Isaac Mina
    LB- Walter Ayovi
    RM- Antonio Valencia
    CM- Edison Mendez
    CM- CHristian Noboa(David Quiroz)
    LM- Jefferson Montero
    FW- Christian Benitez
    FW- Jaime Ayovi

    Bench and Reserves
    GK- Maximo Banguera(Adrian Bone)
    RB- Miguel Ibarra
    LB- Giovanny Nazareno
    CB- Jorge Guagua
    RM- Joao Rojas
    CM- David Quiroz(christian Noboa)
    CM- Fernando Saritama
    DM- Segundo Castillo
    ACM- Miller Bolanos
    LM- Fernando Guerrero
    LM- Michael Arroyo
    RM- Joffre Guerron
    FW- Felipe Caicedo
    FW- Christian Suarez(Marlon De Jesus)

we will have to see what Felix Borja can do in Mexico, and how Juan Casares develops, I dont put Felipe Caicedo as a starter because he hasn't fully conviced me yet... Also I know some players will have to be cut off since I think only 20 players could be registered for copa america but this is as low as I could cut my list down.

Danny Cabezas is a great option for Keeper, better than Aragon, no wonder he's starting keeper for El Nacional now :p. But knowing Rueda he'd probably bring Aragon anyway lol. I chose Lanza because he is Solid most of the time, the fact that he played for Olmedo last season made it hard on him, especially since Olmedo's defense is so volatile. like that game LDU played against Olmedo, they won 1-0 which I personally saw a 5-0 if it wasn't for Lanza. For me Rojas is iffy, last few games with Emelec he really slacked. Fernando Guerrero would look great in the midfield. Suarez, well hes slacked a bit but you never know he might pick up some experience i Necaxa.

I would start Arroyo on the left and IF Valencia is not completely back to himself have Montero start on the right.

looks about right, although I could go with de Jesus or maybe even J. Ayovi depending on how he performs in place of Caicedo. He still has some convincing to do. The good thing is we have options. And Mendez starts only if gets regular playing time, if not we could go with W. Ayovi in mid with Noboa, they paired up really well in the times Ive seen them, and we could start Nazareno at LB if he plays well. Paredes is a crap shoot. He could play either really well or really bad. Too inconsistent. Ibarra and maybe even Reasco could start there.

I wouldnt say Montero is world class right now. Dont get me wrong, the kid has all the tools to be really good. The thing is tho, the kid has to learn how to play futbol. Hes too much of a ball hog and tries to take on 4 guys all by himself. Thatll lead to some spectacular plays but will also result in him losing possesion more often than not. I think that is partly the reason he doesnt get more playing time at Villa.

He doesn't get playing time at Villarreal because they are 3rd place in La Liga, which is the best any team besides Barca and RM can realistically hope for. He's not going to replace any of the starters. Unfortunately, he's also the #1 sub, which means he's too good to be sent out on loan and get some playing time on a lower team.

The hope is one of the current starters gets transferred next season so he can get the chance to be a regular starter. But he'll have to continue waiting his turn, which is not a good thing for our NT, to be honest.

For my money, it's Michael Arroyo on the left side. Even though he's not on a glamour team, he's playing every week and he's been effective every time he's been called up.

lol yeah Cabezas has done great this season. now that you mention it Lanza has had a great season on a crappy team. I hate it when people slate players without even watching them. Lanza use to suck back in the days but has hit a really good form in the past year. still I doubt Rueda will bring him or even cabezas. Rojas did great throughout most of the tournament except the last few games but I think he has a lot of potential. Guerrero is a huge prospect but I doubt he'll get the chance having Montero and Arroyo in his position.

Suarez isn't such a great player but seeing him play throughout the whole tournament I though his performances were good despite him only getting 12 goals

I think it's way too early to answer this question b/c none of us know how the performance of our guys will go on from here through June. By March or beginning of April it'll be clear to most of us who makes this list. From what i saw in the campeonato this past season and our guys playing in the foreign leauges my list would be this: (with the exception of the keepers: I'll just name options b/c right now that position is up in the air, there's lots of people who can take it)

    Marcelo Elizaga
    Maximo Banguera (#1 keeper IMO)
    Alexander Dominguez
Javier Klimowicz (YES, i think he'll be back in the picture this season)
Danny Cabezas (if he can assure a starting spot in El nacional and do well)

    Eduardo Morante
    Jorge Guagua
    Isaac Mina
Jairo Campos (depending on if he gets playing time in whatever team he's in this season)
    Jefferson Hurtado
    Giovanny Nazareno
    Juan C. Paredes
    Walter Ayovi
Neicer Reasco/Miguel Ibarra (whoever claims this position in Liga will claim a spot in the NT- bet money on it)

    Antonio Valencia
Edison Mendez (same thing goes for him as Jairo Campos)
    Cristian Noboa
    Jefferson Montero
Segundo Castillo (he'll have to battle it out hardcore this season- he's got more competition than anyone in the midfield IMO. No one can say Castillo has got his starting spot on lock as he did in the past Qualifier)
    Michael Arroyo
Luis F. Saritama/David Quiroz/Pedro Quinonez (they're all in direct competition in my book- Pedro being the weakest link)
Miller Bolanos (call me biased, BUT besides Edison Mendez i don't see another player with similar characteristics- this kid has that quality)

Then theres Joffre Guerron, Fernando Guerrero, and MJ Quinonez who are players that unfortunately don't fit in the list but in case of an injury, it wouldn't be a surprised seeing them.

Cristian Benitez (the only forward that 100% deserves to be here)
Felipe Caicedo (let's hope his form in Levante shows he's matured just like Benitez has)
    Joao Rojas
Jaime Ayovi/Cristian Suarez/Felix Borja/Marlon De Jesus (my favorite is Marlon, but I see a direct competition between Ayovi, Suarez and Borja)

Does Fernando Guerrero play right or left-wing for his club? He's left footed but I saw a video where he's mostly on the right side.

I really think we have one of the best pool of wingers in South America...if only I could say that about central defense and midfield.

Fernando Guerrero plays on the left and right. He switches from wing to wing in Independiente. But mostly i see him on the left. He's can manage both feet well.

I think your right about it being too soon, maybe next League we'll have some surprises in store seeing as alot of players have moved from one place to the other. I personally think we can have a good Copa America, We just need slight work on our Defense not that its completely bad, it just isn't consistent, as in other threads we have to find that perfect pair of Center back's.

Man, the season is not over in the Primera DivisiĆ³n but we all know Felipao needs a call up after what we`ve seen so far. After watching all of the games I could this season I think his style of play has changed a lot - and a lot for the better. This is especially true in regards to the national team - he has become more in tune with his strength while also improving his off the ball moves and overall speed. I remember watching some games at city in his last season and he was so slow that it was painful to watch. Now he is an exciting player to watch. Don`t know why he hasn`t been called up for Levante lately, it could be that nagging injury.

As far a J. Montero, he hasn`t been getting a lot of playing time so we`ll see what happens as the season goes but I think Arroyo might have his spot to start with his role being a super sub (which he does very well).

Benitez should easily have his spot as well as Noboa and Valencia (if he recovers fully). Mina looked good in the last friendly but not sure who to pair him up with other than Morante. Ibarra and Paredes can lock up the RB and at LB we need someone new but hopefully we can get some more friendlies. Ayovi is good but he is almost better in the LM where he tends to play with Monterrey. I`d like to see this formation.

    Banguera
    Ibarra ----------Morante--------Mina-------?
    Noboa--------Quiroz?
    Valencia-------------------------------Arroyo
    Benitez
    Caicedo

I like it, but based on the friendlies we've seen, Rueda likes Arroyo a Lot, cant blame him, in my opinion Arroyo deserves the starting role, Montero hasn't shown much in the NT yet.

yes he has he has scored 2 goals provided some assists like the one against uruguay, and teared javier zanetti of argentina apart in wcq. don't get me wrong im not saying scoring a few goals makes a player great but montero is good anytime he gets a chance both at club and country. people questtion him too much. this kid will be the best footballer ever produced by our nation mark my words.

I was talking in Ruedas' time with the NT, I agree with Jeff's quality, no doubt. but After Reading ruedas' comments about whoever gets called up "debe tener actividad competitiva en su club" in other words play matchesand seeing how Arroyo hast started in all friendlies so far. I am not really upset about having Arroyo start for now, I have really started to like his style. anyways It's my opinion only.

I think Jeff Montero should be the exception to the rule "debe tener actividad competitiva en su club" to be called up to the NT. He's the one player that should not be left out, at all costs. He plays more then Antonio ever wished to play in Villarreal. I wouldn't call his season a fail. I just hope Rueda knows who Jeff's competing with.

I agree, there are exceptions to the rule.

Looking at NT you find a few players that are not necessarily stars with the club coach but still get some NT time. Klose, Adu and Dempsey are a perfect examples.

The fact that a player may be marginalized by a manager might only mean the club as a "better" option in the eyes of the manager.

LOL...I was just comparing the situation, not the player. ;)
