According to numerous reports out of England, Clint Dempsey has been fined by Fulham for refusing to play this weekend.
As punishment, Fulham have fined Dempsey.
This latest turn of events likely signals the end of a career at Fulham which began in 2007 and saw the American international score 60 goals in all competitions for the Premier League club.
Dempsey, 29, has one more year left on his current contract with Fulham but it is no secret that he wants to be transferred to another club who has the ability to play in the UEFA Champions League.
In 2007, Dempsey left the New England Revolution in difficult circumstances after MLS turned down a bit from Charlton Athletic in 2006.
The end of the summer transfer window is now only two weeks away and Dempsey will likely have a new club before then.

Asked whether there was any way back for Dempsey, Jol replied: "Of course.
"It's better if he stays here because there's no offer for us on the table. Hopefully we can change the situation."
Jol, who confirmed on Friday that he would not play Dempsey, added: "We all like him. Even if you don't like him, he's our top goalscorer so we're a professional club.
"I told him I almost love him as a son last year - he scored all the goals and I was always happy with him."
