Edgar Castillo's new thread.
Tell me more...
Starting LB for the No.1 team in Mexico.
It was about time Edgar got a new thread.
Nice little write-up on ASN: http://americansoccernow.com/questionnaires/edgar-castillo#.UHObr7e9Kc0
Let's just call him Homie Castillo.
Sinha got his ass red carded Sunday.
Starting vs Chivas today, just started the 2nd half. On Telemundo.
Xolos and their three Americans qualify for Libertadores. That's pretty cool.
That is f*cking awesome!
Not to mention potential American Cirilo Saucedo.
Edgar Castillo helped Tijuana get a shutout @ Monterrey with a solid performance at LB tonight for the Xolos. Greg Garza scored the winning goal of the match which now has Xolos in the lead going into the 2nd leg of the Liguilla.
Tijuana advance to the semifinals of the Liguilla, where they will play against Club Leon. Castillo played the full 90 and Garza came on later in the 2nd half of the game against Monterrey.
Club Tijuana play the 1st leg of the Liguilla Semifinals tonight @ Club Leon. The game will be live on Telemundo at 10 ET.
i read somewhere that Xolos have the "best defense in Liga MX" but that seems hard to believe considering Castillo is the starter. he hasn't looked very good for the USA and in the Xolos games i've watched he seems to play a lot more offense than defense. and they lost the first leg 2-0. did anybody see it? how did Castillo play? and how does Castillo compare to Greg Garza? seems like Garza is a bigger, more athletic player...
Depends on what you mean by athletic but Garza is slow as mud and I wouldn't say he is very athletic.
Castillo is a lot quicker/faster than Garza. If Greg was the same as Castillo athletically, his ceiling would be fairly high as he's technically and tactically sound.
Lately, Castillo has been better at defending than attacking.
A LA FINAL!
Xolos de Tijuana advance to the final!
Today's semifinal deserved its own thread. Only caught the last 40 mins, on and off, but what a game. Castillo seemed to play fine from what I saw.
Game was very open and entertaining, and a crazy atmosphere. Congrats to Egdar, and Joe C. + the one or 2 other yanks on TJ.
Yeah, high drama. Clawed back from down 0-2, tied it on aggregate in I think the 67th minute & advanced on a 90th minute goal. Their forward Duvier Riascos should get a look w/Colombia, it seems like he carries this team.
Anybody thinking about heading down for the TJ leg from SoCal? 1st Mexican final this close to los EEUU, no?
Love me some Hairless Dogs...
How cool is this? A team with three US players who play regularly, plus a bunch in the youth/reserve system, is in the top 2 of a very good league.
Factor it being basically a suburb of a big US city and the fact that just a few years ago they were in the second tier and this story is even better.
I'm pretty sure if Xolos win this will be Castillo's second title in Mexico. I seem to recall he won one with Santos.
Yeah, he sure did.
(The 'roid rage is worth the price of a jersey.)
These are going to be some busy hairless dogs, what with the Clausura, Concachampions and Copa Libertadores. I'm not sure JK can count on fresh legs out of Corona or Castillo.
Playing against the best clubs from South America is definitely gonna be a good experience for these guys.
