Would be surprised if we won again. It usually goes as a win then a loss or vice versa in these types of situations.

Onomah and Roberts both score in the youth cup tie.

2 of the best u18 teams in the country

A long shot but Armstrong might get on in the Wearside derby.

The Belgians seemed to REALLY want to win these games. You could tell by their emotions. With 8 minutes left they dog piled on top of each with the go ahead goal. Or they just think it is an honor to beat England.

I guess our players don't think of these friendly's as career defining games which is okay. I was a little bemused when Solanke didn't seem excited when he got his late goal to win the game.

Hopefully some good came out of the exercise - in an attempt to stiffen the defence..

From a purely selfish point of view, relegation for Fulham might actually be a good thing. If so we could conceivably see Roberts getting first team football next season.

Roberts and Max Lowe are in the Algarve tournament. Looking like a strong squad.

Loads of hacks that are able to get away with more aggressive play in that league though.

Full Algarve squad, including a name nobody's seen before I think:

England U17 Head Coach John Peacock has named a 20-man squad for the Algarve Tournament at the end of February.

The Young Lions will face Netherlands, Portugal and Germany in the annual competition as they prepare for the European Championship Elite Round qualifiers in Czech Republic in March.

There is a first call-up for RC Lens’ midfielder Taylor Moore, and he is joined by fellow newcomers Callum Connolly of Everton and Karl Ahearne-Grant of Charlton Athletic.

England will play Netherlands at the Municipal Stadium in Lagos on Wednesday 26 February, followed by Portugal on Friday 28 February at the Algarve Stadium before they return to Lagos for their final match with Germany on Sunday 2 March.

The England U17 squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Sam Howes (West Ham), Freddie Woodman (Newcastle United)

Defenders: Archie Edwards (Charlton Athletic), Max Lowe (Derby County), Tom Brewitt (Liverpool), Dael Fry (Middlesbrough), Joseph Gomez (Charlton Athletic), Callum Connolly (Everton), Mandela Egbo (Crystal Palace)

Midfielders: Lewis Cook (Leeds United), Taylor Moore (RC Lens), Kieran Dowell (Everton), Jordan Rossiter (Liverpool), Oluwaseyi Ojo (Liverpool), Joshua Onomah (Tottenham Hotspur)

Forwards: Patrick Roberts (Fulham), Giorgio Rasulo (MK Dons), Karl Ahearne-Grant (Charlton Athletic), Connor Mahoney (Blackburn Rovers), Demetri Mitchell (Manchester United)

Have to imagine the lack of Solanke, Brown, Christie-Davies, Ali, and whoever else from Chelsea is because the club have requested them to be kept back for club duties. They've all been too often involved (and in the case of the forwards very successful) this season for it to be anything other than that.

That would be great but may be a lil bit too early , Patrick needs to develop physically to play pro football , no need to rush or he could end up like Owen......Great news for Taylor Moore , seeing what he tweets I don't think he expected that .

And after the absence of Chelsea players in the u16 squad, eh, eh? It's getting curiouser and curiouser.

Well The FA's site was pretty explicit in saying that Palmer and Kiwomya were withdrawn because we're still in the Youth Cup, and the U17 group that played against Belgium featured Solanke, Brown and Christie-Davies for the first game before they returned for club duties, so not really? You mentioned it in the U16 thread and haven't answered yet when I asked what you meant by it.
