Why couldn't they start putting the Seahawks logo and endzone marking on after the Sounders game? At least they didn't have the whole field marked up.

What we were told is that the paint would not be able to dry in time for sunday due to wet weather with the short turn around. We have had very very heavy rain lately.

It didn't bug me in the slightest. In fact I was a little nostalgic watching it.

As I said in the pbp thread on N&A, the sidelines and lack of lines were actually more confusing as a viewer than the logos. Haven't we known for weeks that this was going to happen though?

Do they have to have the name of the team in the touchdown zone? I understand the reason for the thick white lines and logo in center but the Seahawks name on both sides is not that necessary, unless it's an NFL rule.

    "yawn" paint? who cares ...

I'm more worried about that crap under the paint. I feel like I'm watching indoor soccer.

    Yes!

I was surprised the yard lines weren't down also. But I guess they dry faster since they're smaller.

With Kraft making a much better effort to remove the football lines in New England I thought there was a chance no MLS games this year would be played in the old style.

Saw clear football markings at the last game in New England and now Seattle.

Thought Seattle had an ironclad standard that this could not happen...oh well...

It's happened once in four years in Seattle. Anyone who worries about that needs better things to worry about.

Just saw football lines on the field on TV at BBVA for the Dynamo SKC game. Who plays there? HS? Small college?

TSU, small black college. It was a requirement to get the stadium built. They played last night in the rain, hence the shitty pitch.

Remember when half the league had full NFL markings on their fields from September onward, sometimes even as early as the NFL preseason in August? Kids today sure are spoiled.

Worst part of the field looked like the center along the football sidelines. This was also the worst part of the field at FC Dallas a couple weeks ago after some high school games. Seems like we ought to have technology to preserve the soccer field grass along the sidelines of the football field.

I dont mind, it makes my mind work to figure out which line is for soccer or football. Also, I can celebrate every touchdown if the game gets boring.

New England invented amateur-ish football lines

True, Walter Camp came up with the gridiron lines while at Yale, which is in New England.

It helps that New England invented the whole sport, but that's neither here nor there

What it really was, was a tactic by Seattle to get RSL to play even more narrow than they usually do. RSL loves the diamond midfield play that simply doesn't have any width to it. With those lines, Seattle was essentially telling their wings "between here and here, you'll have loads of space"

It didn't work out (largely thanks to the flying midget in goal for RSL) but the thought process was sound.
