You were just drawn v my club Twente in the uefa cup. Any information on places to stay would be much appreciated (expect a considerable group of away fans coming your way)

    Getafe Thread

Seeing as there isn't one yet, I'll start it now in celebration of Getafe reaching the UEFA Cup group stages in their first ever attempt.

Of course I'll flesh this out tomorrow with all the requisite infos but, for now:

    1) Getafe is a city of around 150,000 just outside Madrid
    2) The current incarnation of the club was founded in 1983, but previous versions have existed as far back as WW2
    3) Geta moved up to the Segunda for the first time ever just a few years ago, 2001/02
    4) Promotion to the Primera followed soon after
    5) Last season saw them equal their best-ever finish of 9th, but they did so with the best defensive record in the Liga and, moreover, a superb Copa run that saw them beat Barcelona in the semis to get to the final
    6) They lost the final 1-0 but qualified for the UEFA Cup as Sevilla were in the Champions League
    7) They're struggling domestically under new coach Michael Laudrup but juuuust scraped through to the UEFA Cup group stages.

    Getafense por siempre ;)

You're only 40 days late in starting the thread. Take a look farther down and you'll see a Getafe 07-08 thread that was started in late August. I will merge this with the other thread.

Even though I'm a Bayern fan I'm completely imressed by Getafe. It deserves to to play in Eurpoe next year as well.
The second leg will be one hell of a game.

After those exciting UEFA cup matches, almost everyone in Spain have one piece of his heart for Getafe. Me included. Sadly they keep losing titles in the last game.

For this year, apart from the guys just mentioned above, Getafe has got Adrian Gonzalez from Real Madrid Castilla. Adrian is the son of Michel and is regard as a good prospect.

Hopefully Getafe will continue growing our players, as they did with De la Red and Granero (this last one may stay one more year with Geta). Both teams gets profits.

It is said in the media they want Parejo (from Castilla) or Crosas (Barça B) for attacking midfield position, and Soldado (Real Madrid) as striker.
