    With the addition of Zandi and the return of Nikbakht from injury, which could mean the inclusion of either Kaabi or Nosrati from Iran's starting 11, Iran NT's average height against Japan will most likely be 183.63 cm!

    Mirzapour 196 cm
    Rezaei 180 cm
    Golmohammadi 180 cm
    Nosrati 182 cm
    Mahdavikia 172 cm
    Nekounam 186 cm
    Zandi 184 cm
    Karimi 178 cm
    Nikbakht 186 cm
    Hashemian 182 cm
    Daei 194 cm

    Average height = 183.63 cm

    There seems to be some wrong info on some players. Almost everywhere I see Daei's height as 188. Since when did he gain 6cm? :D

    Ali Daei = 188cm
    Mirzapour = 195cm
    Golmohammadi = 178cm
    Rezai = 178cm
    Mahdavikia = 171cm

    Now now.... lets not make poor Kia smaller than he is.... he is indeed 172 cm, Daei is about 190 cm not 188 cm nor 195cm.
    Golmohammadi is taller than Rezaei and about 182 cm. These stats are accurate.

    Where did you get such stats? "Daei is 188 cm". Are you kidding me?

    Daei is 194 cm according to a bio book of him I have here and even according to Asian Cup profiles, he is 192 cm.

    Mahdavikia is 1972 cm according to HSV official website.

    Rezaei is 184 cm according to FC Messina offcial website.

    You are only right about Golmohammadi. He's 178 cm. I made a mistake there.

    I don't think Kaebi will be benched. Don't count on that. That means the average height will drop ;)

    But as long as we play better than in the match against Bahrain height isn't important.

    I think Branko will bench Kaabi against Japan. But even with Kaabi (169 cm) playing instead either Golmo or Nosrati, the average height would still be around 182 cm.

    By the way, Kaabi is actually 174 cm not 169 cm.

    Kaabi is shorter than 174, if Mahdavikia is 172 its impossible that Kaabi be taller than Mahdavikia, Kaabi is the shortest and 169cm is more acceptable.

    Oh, no. Not again. This is a blatant invitation to you know who. I hope none of the Korean posters to bite on this.

    exactly. On official documents(released by the IFF and the JFA right before the Iran U-23 vs Japan U-23 in early 2004), Kaabi was 166cm. 166~167cm has been the data I've got for months and now he's 174cm?
    It seems like through dicussion boards, he gets taller. :D

    A. I've known Daei's height to be 188cm for quite a few years now. Didn't think I needed any search.

    B. However, since you wanted, here were the results. Almost everywhere I look, it has Daei's height as 188cm. Does he really look 194cm to you? he looked nowhere close to 194cm in my eyes. During the last Asian Cup, Jin-chul Choi was almost identically similar to Daei in height. Choi was 187cm.

    LOL. I read this thread, but I thought, "What happens in the Iranian Board stays in the Iranian board." Kinda like that ad campaign for Las Vegas. :D

    Like hell it will. I almost thought Mani was goading Koreans to jump into Iranian forum and bash this thread so that they can get carded. Then I thought, nah, Mani is a good man. He won't pull a stunt like that. :cool:

    There is no way Daei is 188 cm. I'm 187 cm and I've seen Daei in person. Trust me, he's WAY taller than me! Even his Asian cup profile says 192 cm.

    I had Rezaei originally at 180 cm but his club profile says 184 cm. So there are conflicting sources about the heights of the footballers so I guess you can take or add a margin error of of 1 cm to 183 cm average.

    So why are some of the Koreans so sensitive about the average height of Iran NT? What's South Korea NT's average height?

    169 cm is what I originally had but Team Melli site says 174 cm and even his Asian cup profile says 174 cm. So again this is another case of conflicting sources.

    That said, even with Kaabi included in the starting 11 at 169 cm, Iran's average height would still be higher than 182 cm.

    not really sensitive about Iran NT's avg. HT but since you asked...

    the squad that played Kuwait:

    GK: Lee WJ - 182 cm
    DF: Park JH - 184 cm
    DF: Yoo KR - 182 cm
    DF: Park DH - 185 cm
    MF: Kim NI - 181 cm
    MF: Park JS - 176 cm
    MF: Kim DJ - 182 cm
    MF: Lee YP - 177 cm
    FW: Lee DG - 185 cm
    FW: Seol KH - 184 cm
    FW: Lee CS - 172 cm

    AVG: 180.9 cm

    compared to the Iran NT there aren't any super-tall guys (over 190 cm) in the Korean NT, but they are mostly in low-mid 180's (most of the subs are around 180-185 cm as well, I think)

    btw, I didn't know Mahdavikia was only 172 cm! Guess that's why he's so fast, hm.

    That's a great average height too. Well, I think Iran and South Korea, depending on the formation and players playing, are the two tallest teams in Asia.

    By the way, does anyone know China and Uzbekistan's average height?
    I know Japan NT and Saudi NT are pretty short but the Chinese and Uzbek teams look pretty tall to me!

    yeah, most upcoming Korean prospects are pretty tall, easily over 180 cm, I think - and with the manager Bonfrere generally preferring taller players that avg. will stay around that number.

    I don't know about other teams, but I've heard that China NT's physical specs are getting quite impressive (especially their youth teams).
