    1) Your goal keeper is not very good
    2) Your right back is not good and you only have one real center back.
    3) you only have 1 good defensive midfielder.

How can you hope to compete?

Did you watch the Superclasico de las Américas or what? Why Argentina specifically? There are loads of countries with worse teams that think they can win the copa.

First off Sergio Romero or whoever will be in goal will not make or break them, second I'd say both backs aren't very good, but actually watch Argentina play their defense is certainly improving as a unit. Thirdly if you're making the point that Mascheranos play is falling off I've heard that from Argentinos mostly because sometimes they hate everything but he's still playing at a high level and Gago has been even better so.....

Point is, what's the point? The mundial is still a year and a half a way so at this point they're just as close as anyone else.

Yes, only England can claim so because they have great players in all position;)

Apart from Spain or possibly Germany, name 1 national today that has 60% of winning the world cup... or national team that has great players in all position.

Did Argentina has world class forward, defenders and goalkeeper in 86?;)

Valdano was a World class forward in 86 starring for Real Madrid.Oscar Ruggeri and Nery Pumpido just didnt win the World cup in 86 they won the World club cup with River. So yes I would say the vastly underrated team of 86 had all three but they just got completely overshadoed in the Diego show.

Oscar Ruggeri is world class in my opinion but the others? great players but not in the rank of Kempes, Pasarella, Ardilles, Francescoli, Lothar Matheus, Voller, Platini, Zico, etc etc

So many players from 90's and onward winning multiple league titles, that doesnt mean they're world class. Valdano at his best has scoring ratio below 0.5. Neither his scoring in NT is impressive

You only need to watch 86 highlights and see how many times Burruchaga and Valdano wasted Diego assist from point blank range. Most notable against Uruguay (twice) and Belgium at knockout stage, both where Diego could have score easily by himself in one on one situation.

You are 100% correct about Negro Enrique who in that year was undoubtedly among the best midfielders in the World.
The notion of Burruchaga not being top class is simply nonsense. As well as the World cuop in 86 he reached the final in 90 won the Libertadopres,World club cup ,Copa Sudamericana Argentine league titles all the club ones being the key man

Dude needs to worry about his own players.

    I do know your team
Coloccini... is that who you have at right back these days? If you move Mascherano to centerback then, Costa and Alvarez are not too impressive. Zabaleta alright at left back but, will struggle against teams like Germany. Romero is simply not of a high quality.

Clearly! In the Argentina you know, Zabaleta has managed to switch sides, and Coloccini actually plays. Costa & Alvarez have managed to get on the team. Way to double down on being an ass.

The guy may be a troll but our.performances in all the World cups since 1990 with the POSSIBLE exceptions of 98 and 06 have been hugely dissapointing.Ok in 06 the Czech referee against Germany was clearly bought but we have to be more ruthless More Passarella and.Ruggeri and less Trying to be the saviors of World futbol.We.have attacking players to beat anyone but Sabella.has a massive task in making the defence ruthless.

The guy is a troll for the fact current generation of other big teams like Brazil, Italy, Uruguay, England (if you count them as strong side), France, neither they have world class players in every area. Only Spain and Germany above the paper has the balance in all areas.

In 1998 they're still fighting till last minute until Ortega pushed the self destruct button and Holland caps the momentum minute later. 2006, they're leading but Pekerman decided to fill the bench with Saviola, Aimar, Messi, Crespo and Riquelme all at once.

1994 was superb team until Diego's suspension. 2010 was self creation disaster by having a clown figure as a coach. 2002 was the only total disaster, destroying everyone 4 straight years yet struggling against England and Sweden.

Its never easy to win the World cup. German might perform well but what have they achieve since beating Argentina in 1990? their last thropy was 1996 Euro. Even having great performance sometimes aint enough... in fact most of the time its not enough when it comes to winning the World cup.

Let's be honest if you remove those guys you don't have much better to replace them. At least in Europe. I don't follow the Argentine league! I do agree that winning the world cup involves a bit of luck since there are no easy teams in the knockout stage.

Gino Peruzzi(Velez) is a right full back of huge promise and with normal improvement should be a starter in 2014.German Pezzela(River) can go to the Mundial as well if he avoids injury and much as it grieves me to say it but Orion for me is better than Romero.
also Sabella is much more pragmatic than Maradona,Bielsa or Pekerman who all wanted Argentina to replace Brasil as World futbols poster boys.
I am not saying we are going to win but only a fool would rule out Argentina on South American soil.

Without Maradona, Argentina goes out to Uruguay in WC86 round of 16.

What did Burruchaga did when not playing next to Maradona?

Enrique was never world class, he was there to alleviate the midfield running for Maradona, that is not what world class players do.

It's not all about the flash players who catch the eye. It is all about teamwork. Someone needs to do the hard work in midfield for the creative players to flourish.

It was a solid side from the back with Pumpido, Ruggieri and the flying Olarticochea. Experience and tenacious in midfield with the likes of Enrique and Batista and with proven forwards upfront.

All this nonsense that somehow Maradona alone won the 86 World Cup is just that. He like anyone needed a solid team around him. He however was that extra special ingredient and bit of quality that lifted the seleccion to new heights.

There are plenty of options emerging in defence and midfield for Sabella to take consideration of. I like the look of Peruzzi and Pezzella and Lamela too to name but three.

Arrogance to think Argentina can win a World Cup ? The only arrogance being displayed or rather ignorance is your own silly question. Argentina have always been and will always remain for the foreseeable future amongst the top contenders for the World Cup. Not to mention that this time around they have that extra special ingredient in the form of Messi and this time unlike in 2010 being managed by a proper coach.

Solid teams usually leave the WC at the Rof16 or at best Rof8 stage. Bilardo built a group of players that believe in his approach: work hard, remain focused and let Maradona carry the team by himself to victory. Credit to the players for loyally buying into the model and showing garra at moments when it was needed, but no Maradona and that team goes out early in the tournament.

Obviously you are very young and dont know much about that era.Burruchaga with Independiente won everything there was to win and was a key player in all their wins Argentine c/ship,Supercopa Sudamericano,Copa Libertadores,World club cup, 57 caps for Argentina with 13 golas excellent for a midfield player in a very defensive era.
Enrique was in 85 and 86 exactly that World class anchoring Rivers midfield as they won the Argentine league,Libertadores and World club cup as well as the Mundial.Unfortunately he suffered a serious knee injury in 87 and never recovered.
World class players do in their position what their function is so we have World class players in every position from goalkeeper out not just the 9 or 10.
To say Argentina would have lost to Uruguay is to simply deny 100 years + of history when Argentina play Uruguay whether Maradona,Messi,Di Stefano,Schiaffino,Rocha or Francescoli is playing nobody really knows who is going to win as its a clasico

Argentina scored 6 at group stage, Maradona scored 1 assisted 4. They're pretty much out without Maradona. Burruchaga and Valdano both missed from point blank range against Uruguay despite being setup easily by Diego (one with header, one suppose to be an easy tap in), Pasculli was also setup one on one with GK by Maradona and still missed. When Diego put Argentina ahead 2-0 against Belgium, he had a chance to score a hattrick but at one on one situation he gave the ball to Valdano which the commentor said "that has to be worst miss of the tournament".

    Watch this

If Valdano and Burruchaga are world class, Argentina would have won by bigger margin in every matches. You dont have any better privilege that being setup like this (and still miss!)
