Two month rental. I think that is 8 matches. At least we signed somebody.

Hopefully he plays as well (or better) than he did last year. :)

Max of 11 games. As long as we win every FA Cup game.

    I see:
    8 Premier League,
1 FA Cup (scheduled v Tamworth), and
2 FA Cup (4th & 5th rounds, if we progress)

Though expecting him to play 11 matches in 7 weeks might be a bit much....

And if he happened to put two past Brad Friedel on Jan 11, that wouldn't hurt my feelings...

    Great news.

I hope Landon seriously considers playing a few full seasons for Everton.

He's had a great career in MLS, leading both the San Jose Earthquakes and the Los Angeles Galaxy to two championships each.

Hopefully he could do the same with Everton. :)

He isn't all the answers but this loan is great as far as i am concerned!
Provides some speed, service and experience in the midfield.
I wish we could sign him longer but Everton doesnt have the 10mil + it would take to lure him permanently.

Agreed all around - and I don't think it's what you would have to pay him, rather what MLS would insist upon as a xfer fee....but then, we've been down that path before....

Anyone know when Landon is out of contract with the Galaxy?

I'm thinking next year, but I'm not sure.

Per Wikipedia, he signed a four-year extension at the end of 2009, so he has another two years....so if Everton wanted him permanently, they'd have to come up with some severe $$ to pay MLS' transfer fee.

I'll say this because I think it's a good move. If Everton just so happens to be awarded a penalty against Tottenham. I definitely know who will be walking up to the spot.

This is excellent news. If he has half the impact he had last time then I will be pleased. Made up he will be here for the derby as well. We haven't won at Anfield since 1999 I think so hopefully Landon can help us out in that department. I'm really looking forward to the home game against Bolton now and seeing him in action. It shows how bad the situation is at your club though when the best news all year is the announcement of a loan signing.

Welcome to the Everton board. :)

From your user name, I guess you regularly watch matches from the Gwladys Street Stand?

Yeah mate, I'm a season ticket holder in the Lower Gwladys.

Go too as many away games as I can as well.

Didn't realise we had any American fans. :p

over on grandoldteam.com they were dreaming the Everton would go after Dempsey...
3 americans on one EPL team? That would really capture a spot on ESPN which is the key to ANY successful sports marketing strategy in the USA.

...but hey we can always dream right?

The rumor mill has former USA national player Charlie Davies possibly signing up with Everton.

But unfortunately he hasn't fully recovered from the horrific car wreck he was in a few years ago.

    Thanks for posting the link.

Moyes definitely sounds interested in signing Landon long-term provided Landon's 2nd loan works out well.

I think it would flat out marvelous if they could work it out - he's 29 years old now, so if a long term move is ever on the books, it needs to happen soon while he still has the legs to play that level and is perceived to be of value.

I think Everton would be the perfect choice to work it out - the Club needs to skills that he brings (or will hopefully bring, again) and Landon needs a Club where he fits. I think David Moyes made terrific use of him last go-round. If he shows well this time, he'd also be assured of regular playing time - not just riding the bench and playing in the odd FA cup game.

    Well, I can hope.

Would he want to come here long term though?

He was in favor of having the last loan extended, but the Galaxy weren't having it. I don't remember if there was discussion about selling him as the price was going to be too high.

I think there's a stronger possibility this time that he'd pressure the Galaxy to accept a transfer bid.

When he was on loan to Everton two years ago, Landon was in the process of divorcing his wife, so I expect he might have wanted to stay in LA until that mess was resolved.

But now that his personal life has settled down and he's finally won an MLS Cup with Beckham, I think he might be open to taking on a new challenge and seeing if he can excel in the Premier League.
