Well a quality player is a quality player, thats all that matters. I don't know why Ferguson didn't trust Diouf, he did well for them. He was at United for three years and on loan for much of that time anyways, not like he's a native. His record and performances since leaving England are pretty amazing.

I don't know about this particular player. IT is however not unprecedented for a former Utd player to join Liverpool. The Ince-y bitsy spider did it.

Hell, I'll take most of United's players. Again, quality is quality.

Apparently City want to bid 40m for Suarez. Hilarious.

I was talking at the pub Sunday about Pepe and wondering if would be here past the window. He's definitely a salable commodity. It just seemed odd to me that he was only supposed to miss 1-2 matches due to the hammy. I thought it suspicious in a way. Just a hunch. I wonder if BR has been told to sell in order to buy.

One of the papers is reporting that Arsenal are interested in him.

Daily Fail says 50 million would be a reasonable offer for Suarez from City. We'll keep him thanks.

I agree. If a player makes us better and wants to wear the shirt, who cares where they played previously?

I remember someone talking about Serie A and how players move around to rivals all the time, and it's not the end of the world. The list of players that played for both milan and inter is pretty extensive, with some great players. Did Milan fans reject Seedorf because he played for inter? Or Vieri, ibra, ronaldo.. Or Pazzini/cassano currently?

I think he's genuinely injured. Reina hasn't been at his best for a while now so we are unlikely to get the £20m we would have in 2010. Dropping him for the rest of the season will only drive the price down.

Plus who would we get to replace him, Vorm only signed a new contract last month and most keepers will only be slightly cheaper than Reina or inexperienced at top league level.

Reina loves the club and played in the right system and with confidence is among the best in Europe, it would be silly to get rid.

I'd take 50 for Suarez only if it meant we'd be getting Cavani to replace him and have a little left over to buy another striker too.

Not that I really want to move Suarez though.

i'm not naive enough to believe that we will have suarez here much longer if we don't get into the champions league and start challenging for the title. i'd guess it would be fair to expect luis to give us the rest of this season and the next before he should look to move on if we don't improve exponentially. now, stranger things have happened, and money talks. however, if he were to leave us, now, why go to city (besides the aforementioned money)? he'd have to compete with a smorgasbord of super-star strikers and attacking midfielders for playing time. even if they move on balotelli AND dzeko, his place will never be safe as they'll always be looking to bring in the next big thing, and you'd have aguero, tevez, and the potentially the likes of cavani and falcao to fight for playing time. also there, he won't get as many chances and the attack won't rely a heavily on him. i don't think he's be consistent enough in that kind of setup to keep aguero/falcao-esques on the bench.

also, i hope he'll ponder torres' current predicament. from legend to laughing-stock in less than two seasons. the grass isn't always greener, even if the paper is...

(ps. i realize that pound notes are, like, pink and purple. and euros are the same. and he won't be paid in US dollars. but, it fit, didn't it...)

He could move to the A-League and get green plastic notes here. ;)

I'd actually take 40 + Guidetti for Saurez for the record.

Regardless though, poopoobigelow has it right, there's nothing to be gained but cash in a Man City move. The move just doesn't even make sense for Man City either, as they've got 5 strikers now looking for first team action (that includes the up-and-coming Guidetti). I get they'll be looking to move Balotelli, but Dzeko HAS to stay, no one else wants Tevez, and Aguero's the face of the club at this point.

Move Dzeko and fans will rage, he's single-handedly won them at least half of their games this year.

    Rodger on Reina
    http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/lucas-shelvey-and-reina-injury-latest

"Pepe has been back in training. He was very close to last weekend [at Chelsea].
"He made a great commitment to show he's fighting for his place here in the group. He was called into the Spanish squad, but stayed here to ensure he was fit and strong - and he's been training all week"
    And
"Brad has done terrific. I've said before, and I'll repeat again, Pepe Reina is our No.1 goalkeeper.
"He's been an outstanding goalkeeper for this football club. I know from speaking to him that he's committed and very determined to continue at a very high level for the next nine-10 years.
"He's been a model professional since I came in here, and I talk regularly with him to try and improve his game and help him get back to the level he wants to get to.

I don't want him to go. Just wondering if there was something behind the scenes.

We should attempt to get Ba and Cavani. I bet we'd score some goals. Just a thought.

Cavani is awesome - but would there be a bedding in period if he came ot England - on a pretty average team especially like Liverpool? I'd think so. It would be weird to sell a guy that loves playing for us and slotted in immediately for a player that we'd have to hope would bang them in immediately.

I do understand the thought that with 50M we could get Cavani + another striker - but I also think that we'd have to spend a high percentage of that just to get Cavani leaving us with very little leftover.

He has no problem with the spotlight though, we've seen that.

Suarez to City seems more than just a rumour though, BBC, Sky, ESPN, and Guardian have all jumped all over it, and those are 4 really good sources, especially when they all report the same thing. Seems like City actually wants Suarez, so I think BR coming out and telling City to f*ck off was the right move.

Suarez has said he is very happy at LFC and wants to stay for many more years. Quite unequivocal.

But what about the owners? How do they feel?

Talking of respected journalists, one of the sources is Daniel Taylor, as blatantly anti-Liverpool as you can ever be and still claim to be a journalist.

I'm not sure the BBC/ESPN/Sky are exactly respected journals in football. ESPN reprints trash. BBC has had a decent department at times, but it depends on which club. They're also notoriously late to the party. SKY is pretty terrible.

This is the truth. And more and more they all repeat each others rumors. It is an international week so they have to make up something. And our supporters by papers and click on sites
