We can prob bring in a big euro team at that point as they will want a game in South America. I believe both Sweden and Portugal do not have a game yet. Or do you guys think with it being that close to the WC we shouldn't play a top team?

Between November and March I really hope to have one of those random domestic games against Mexico, US, Argentina, or Ecuador where we basically just training camp local(south american) guys and try them out.

Germany, England, France, Spain, Italy have a game this day

Damn that is a big break. I was hoping to have games every couple of months at least. I think we should keep playing elite teams, no more cup cake games that prove nothing

I be ok with either Sweden or Portugal. Depending on how we do with Belgium and Netherlands, we're going to either choose a team that played a similar style to who and if had beaten us, or a team with a completely different style than either of them and that we want to try something different.

But knowing Pekerman, he'll want to play against a very weak team so that Colombia can experiment.

id like us to play a phisical team.. an african one for example would be really good... or an asian one.. we might face both types of teams in the wc

by this time we will know who is in our group. Maybe play a team similar to one of those. I want a strong team. I know you guys think I am beating a dead horse here but Perea and Yepes can not both go to the WC and both be starters we won't make it out of the 1st round. Top teams can show Pekerman who should be on the team.

-Perea, Yepes, Mosquera.... 2 or all 3 should be left home
-Macnelly ..... no longer in Barranquilla... let's see if he is still a pecho trio
-Teo ..... No Barranquilla is he still Falcaos perfect partner up top. He def should be on the team but starter?
    - RB?? No Zuniga :(..... who else? Cuadrado defending takes away one of our best attackers. Arias and Medina are both way too green
    - LB back up..... Zuniga is a RB... he struggles big time in this position. Balanta?
    - DM we need a new starter. Valencia is great but if he doesn't play in Brazil and is injury prone we need someone else.
-CM .... is Abel really our best option?

-I am sure Yepes will start in the WC. I hope Perea doesn't and that Mosquera doesn't even go
    -Agreed on Macnelly
-Teo should start if we play a formation with 2 strikers. He's earned his spot. If we switch to 1 striker, then he will obviously be on the bench.
-I don't mind using Cuadrado as a RB. He can still venture forward on the attack and provide attack on both wings (James on left and he on the right) for the center man which will hopefully be Quintero
-LB back up is a huge question.
-DM: Hopefully Valencia recovers. We really don't have much there
-CM: Maybe Guaro or Aldo can gain this spot from Abel

Abel > Aldo. Guarin is better but only when he is on top form. Abel is more consistent
I think Yepes will go to the WC I am just not as sure as everyone here that he will still be a starter

You don't go from captain to being on the bench. Especially with only a few friendly games left before the WC

There's no way Yepes doesn't go to the World Cup ... he's the captain and although i do agree that he's past his prime I don't see Pekerman not bringing even if its just to have some veteran leadership....

Yepes loses his spot at Atlanta. Murillo gets called up and does well. Balanta goes to Napoli or Barca and is a starter. Zapata a starter at Milan. Franco starts and plays amazing the next 5 months in Spain. You would still bring Yepes?

I don't disagree with what you are saying but I don't see Pekerman leaving him behind regardless of the circumstances... I think his game against Paraguay definitely secured his spot on the roster..

Más fácil dejaban de llamar a Mosquera, Perea, Zapata y Valdez que a Yepes, así estos nacieran acá.

I don't see any scenario that Yepes won't be a starter in the WC. Pekerman appreciate him a lot, he is our captain and is a vital part in Pekerman's ideal 11 during the qualifiers. Only an injury will keep him out of the starting lineup. Unlike most of you, it's a bit hard for me to not give him the spot in Brazil. while we all agree that he past his prime, He does have some advantage that the other CB don't like experience and we all know how much it can be important during the game. On the other hand, he is very slow, which can be very dangerous when we'll meet fast strikers. But again, I don't think that Pekerman will go with players who didn't play for the NT until now like Balanta, Murillo or Medina. They maybe travel to the tournament but he will keep to choose between Yepes-Perea-Zapata-Valdes and maybe Aquivaldo. I say Valdes and Yepes should be the chosen guys.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. I don't mind Yepes as a starter if he has a solid defender next to him. Someone fast and strong to make up for Yepes' lack of speed. I am very intrigued to see what Yepes Balanta could look like

Has made up for his age so I think that it is right that he needs a fast defender next to him.

you guys sound like you've never played soccer. How does having the fastest defender in the world even compensate for a 'slower' defender? One player can't possibly compensate 90 minutes for two positions. Yepes experience will be in positioning and not taking huge risks. This isn't about giving the other CB the responsibility to cover who ever beats Yepes on speed. Inside the 18' the last thing you want is to have 2 defenders marking the same guy. The one thing age gives you is maturity. And i know Yepes realizes that he's not as his prime. That maturity will also help him take less risk if not needed. I hated his game vs Chile as I thought he was way physical. But looking back I think that he felt if he pushed the Chileans (Alexis specially) enough, they would earn some bad calls (yellow/red card).

You want to help Yepes? 1) Make sure our DFM (hopefully Valencia/Abel) are well positioned when attacked. 2) Be more on the offensive so that our defensive responsibilities are reduced.

I've played plenty, I was a CB so I know that 1 CB can't cover 2 guys. Having said that, if you have a slow defender like Yepes, you would at least hope that his counterpart has the speed to cover fast counter attacks, or to mark the faster striker. I have seen elite CBs make up for their partner's mistakes plenty of times as well

Dude, there's going to be times when a player just needs to out pace him; that's how old he is. I am saying that if he's playing against players like Lukaku, Hazard, etc. anyone who can run really face, they pull off a overhead flick or move the ball pass him from a respect amount of space where he couldn't reach. That's the only concern with Yepes if it's one vs one. He's always taken advantage and success if there's no open space, but there is going to be a time where speed will cost him and hence we need him to work well solidifying the defense as a captain who glues them together but needs support in some parts.

I myself play often as a defender and I've faced a lot of guys much faster than me where I had only rely on equally fast defenders while giving support.

Today we had possibly 2 of the FASTEST CB in Perea and Zapata and they were still beaten by Hazard, etc...BUT we compensated by having our MFs keep constant pressure. Perea and Zapata were playing deep in our last 1/3 so speed wasn't really a factor. Belgium had speedy CBs but all it took was one simple pass to the empty space from James to disrupt their back line. One on One, who can stop Cuadrado? Who can stop Messi? etc, etc.

Arias and Armero did good when they were back defending.
