I have nothing against Carreño, but he's not even getting minutes over Santana (let alone Suazo or De Nigris). And I'll reiterate, my goal for bringing a striker in is to provide mentorship to younger players.

If we're talking young forwards, I wouldn't mind having O Arce on the team.

If he comes in 1 minute, that counts as a game. He doesnt get much play time.

And bro, im not against Vasquez, i hope they put him in every game. I dont care that he doesnt score. In fact, the reason his development is being arrested is because they are not putting him in; real chose to have bravo and bofo in there sucking it up instead of giving vasquez development time.

Ay guey, really? Still hanging on to that memory of his 2 good games in libertadores? El Oh El. And i disagree on the vasquez thought. The only way Vasquez will get better is by playing, just like chicharito. Look i know that denigris will be better than the crap we have, im not arguing that, hell anything will be better than the putrid delantera we have.

But denigris isnt fast bro, we need a forward that can hand in our fast counter attack's like chichari did and continues to do in Man U. Denigris doesnt fit our attacking scheme.

What? Isnt bravo, bofo enough mentorship? If im vergara, im not paying high dollar for a mentor, im paying high dollar for a dude that can come in and fit our scheme and actually perform.

Yea two games that got us to the final.El Oh El.

You are putting too much pressure on a 19 year old. Chicharito didn't have a break out season until he was 21 years old, While Vasquez is on fast track you can't expect for a kid to carry this team he needs to be protected and he needs to gradually accustom to First division. De Nigirs would help relief some of that pressure while Vasquez fully matures into the player we want him to be.

De Nigris may not be a fast forward but he is a good goal scorer and we need some one who is capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.

Actually, the national team training camp happened and Chivas lost their starters. That was pretty much the end of the season for Chivas. The run to the Libertadores final might as well be a dream.

Losing one player is still no excuse for the whole squad sucking donkey balls. Traditionally, Chivas is not even known for producing goal scorers. Bravo's goal scoring title was the first for the club in over 50 years.

While I do agree that Chicharo was a key player that made a big difference at the end of the day what ruined Chivas aspirations was the Club's gamble on Youth and not replacing the experienced players that were let go. Two of these "Petardos" are starters in clubs that are doing better than Chivas; Gonzalo Pineda at Cruz Azul and Sergio Ponce at San Luis.

I have been saying the same thing since last season. Chivas should not gamble on Youth players. Not even clubs with better Youth Systems place so much faith in their young players. Also, it should be said that many of Guadalajara's players that went abroad were with the club long before Vergara took over.

Rebuilding the Club's Youth System had been a work in progress. Many here will remember how La Promotora had sent Chivas Tapatio to play in Tijuana. I remember reading an interview with Oscar Ruggeri and he claimed how having the club's youth players playing across the country made it difficult for him to follow their progress. By the time Vergara came in the club had already brought back Chivas Tapatio to Guadalajara.

And what should also be noted is that, with Vergara as owner, the club brought in some quality reinforcements that in the end helped Chivas win a league championship. The club now seems to be going backwards. The experienced players are loaned out and players who have only played Youth tourneys are brought in to help win prestigious tournaments like the Copa Libertadores.

I for one am glad that the fans are not going to the stadium. Chivas is NOT a feeder club. Chivas is supposed to be the best Club in Mexico and the best Club in Mexico wins Championships. The only thing Chivas can claim is how many players they send abroad, pffft.. I do not want players playing at Chivas so that they can go to Europe I want them at the club so they can win Championships.

I remember watching Hernan Crespo's last match with River Plate. It was the second-leg of the Copa Libertadores final. Crespo had already been sold to Parma but was to remain with the club until after the tourney. I believe the game was against America de Cali and Crespo scored two goals. Now, I ask myself couldnt have Chivas done the same. Wouldn't have Chicharo been worth more with his World Cup goals and a shiny Copa Libertadores trophy to his name. WTF was Vergara's hurry to sell him so quick. Did he need to finance his trip to South Africa?

It is easier to mentor a player of similiar qualities. A player like Gauchito Avila can learn from Bautista. Omar Arellano can pick up a few tricks from Beberto Medina and or Tomar Bravo. However, Chivas does not have any quality central forwards so there is no one for Michel Vasquez to learn from. I read in this forum how Chico picked up a few heading skills from Borgetti. Neither Bofo or Bravo could have tought Chico how to score awesome goals off a header..

In that sense a mentor does not necessarily need to be old or come in with the sole purpose of improving a Youth players qualities. So, I agree with bringing in a player of Aldo DeNigris caliber. BTW, he does not need to be fast. Many people did not even regard Chicharo as being fast. DeNigris would not be brought in to chase through balls. He would be brought in to camp in the box, play his back against goal, and take advantage of the numerous crosses Chivas likes to send despite having an army of midgit strikers.

I normally don't blame an entire team's performance on one player, but here's the thing about the team sucking because of no Chicharo- the sucking is because of their lack of scoring. Statistically, they have the best defense they've had in decades, no team is overwhelming them in the midfield, they've been in only one lopsided score against (and one in favor), and that was because of Ochoa's 2 injury time goals. With 10 ties and 2 one goal losses out of 16 games, this is the clearest example I remember of them needing goals. Whether Chicharo, or someone else, they need goals. (tangent-Vergara is ridiculous in blaming this on nat team players being depressed from the WC performance)

On Pineda and Ponce- I think Ponce just didn't fit in. He's a decent player, but never quite fit on Chivas. Pineda I'm of two minds of. On the one hand, there seemed to be some issues internally with Pineda and him being there would take minutes away from some of our strongest youngsters (Pato, Chore, Baez, Enriquez). On the other hand, who the hell are they supposed to learn from? Each other? I like the example of the defense, where you have Magallon anchoring the line with other strong youngsters, and Reynoso who knows his limitations and provides some experience off the bench.

So yes, I continue to be in favor of a de Nigris type signing (frankly, I would be ok with Borg coming back as a player-coach, if I could be assured he wasn't part of the locker room problems that season). I think given the speed of Pina, Medina, Fabian, having an intelligent, strong, traditional striker in the box would pay dividends, while also helping Vazquez learn his role.

But I doubt very much Vergara will do anything beyond offer players trips to visit the psychologist in Colombia. Someone needs to whisper in his ear that even though Barcelona relies on developing players, they also pick up Eto'o, Henry, etc. to "fill in the gaps".

I was wondering when Erick Torres was going to get called up to the main team...

He'll be on the bench this Saturday.

I'm certainly curious about him, but he hasn't even scored for the Sub20 this season. I hope they aren't rushing things.

    Gauchito :(

damn, i really liked him. but i guess those two injuries in the past year took big hit to him. i remember him being one of our better players in 2007 & 2008. things were picking up nicely for him up until he busted his knee.

best of luck to him wherever he goes

Gauchito played 13 games for the sub20. Not sure how well he did, but the team certainly sucked. Hopefully he can turn it around for some other team. JNava played every game for Queretaro, though not complete. Hulk played 40 minutes for Jaguares, and not even that much for Jaguares Sub20. Zully played every single minute for Necaxa!

Also of note is that medical exams are Nov 25/26, and the preseason starts for them already on Nov 29!

Is he still on loan? It's been so long I thought he was sold by now. Needless to say, he got half the minutes Nava got (possibly because of Nava's 20/11 status, possibly because of Lopez injury/suckitude).

EL "Charro" Aceves is also at Queretaro on loan. I think he played like 14 games this season.

They played Jorge Cardenas some minutes also, though I don't think either player debuted for Chivas.

    No refuerzos for next season.

I wish we could just get another striker, just one. Ide like to see Chuleta come to chivas.
:D. I know some people wouldn't be crazy about him, but Damn there are only so many Mexicans available.

I also wish Galindo would have worked out. We need a mix of veterans on the squad.

Bravo is leaving, and even though Guero said today that we won't be getting new players i think we should still go after a forward. Aldo De Nigris is my number one choice, but Chuleta would be a great option as well.

brining in an offensive wing for our mid would not be a bad idea either

our defence and goalie should remain untouched

this season has shown that Bofo is not starting material anymore. he has worked better coming in as a sub

hopefully Pina works on his shooting from here until the start of next season. the guy has it all, but his balls seem to shrink everytime he gets near the goal and can't shoot for shit

Fabian was our all star this past season. the guy keeps it up and big things will come for him

Enriquez has earned a starting spot in the DM alongside Pato. sorry Chore

Apparently they already asked Monterrey about de Nigris, and Monterrey said no. Maybe they'll change their mind. I say bring Ochoa back again!:D

Also, futbol sin balon has a rumor about Arellano being offered around.

I read that they had/have 3 delanteros in mind...but they are all unlikely to be released from their clubs.

    Same shit, different day...
