hahaha it seems like lucky marinos managed to beat the high school side after penalty shoot out. the highschool team was also down to 10 men at the end of the 2nd half but marinos couldn't capitalize the advantage. can anyone send me the copy of the game?

it sounds like kashima had a fluke win over the beauty fukuoka.

Ha ha ha. J-League Champs need to go to PK to beat 10 man HS Champs! This is the beauty of the Cup! FC Tokyo just got by JFL team Honda FC (6-5 on PK). Oita Trinita got beat by J2 team Kawasaki Frontale. Urawa Reds were beat by J2 team Shonan Belmare. And in a match that really couldn't be called an upset, Vegelta Sendai (going down next year to J2) was beat by Alvirex Niigata (J2 Champs going to J1).

Final 16 is all J1 and J2. Not surprising, but at least the non-league teams gave it their best shot.

    Round of 16:

    Alvirex Niigata vs. Jubilo Iwata
    Kashiwa Reysol vs. Kashima Antlers
    Cerezo Osaka vs. Gamba Osaka
    Vissel Kobe vs. FC Tokyo
    JEF Ichihara vs. Kawasaki Frontale
    Shimizu S-Pulse vs. Shonan Belmare
Nagoya Grampus 8 vs. Tokyo Verdy
Yokohama F Marinos vs. Hiroshima Sanfrecce

S-Pulse's cup run is sounding like Liverpool's UEFA Cup run in 2001. I can only hope they pull out a 5-4 win in the final....

Nope, it's Iwata vs. Cerezo Osaka!

    Iwata wins 4-2, Cerezo 2-1

I think Cerezo is gonna win it. They are the Purple Sanga of this year. I only hope next year isn't as cruel for them as this year was for Sanga.

Gral's 72nd minute goal gives Jubilo Iwata its first Emperor's Cup. Cerezo have now lost 3 Emperor's Cup finals.
