Well, as I predicted, coming off of last nights lackluster 11K turnout for the USMNT game, Judas Ortiz is excitedly unfurling his El Tri flag on twitter and crapping on the USMNT fans and getting off on ESPN picking up Mexico games for TV. This must be like the day after Christmas for Ortiz, only thing he didn't get was Roger Clemens last jockstrap.

Ortiz knows that more people follow Mexico's team then the USA team. Check out the crowd tonight as Mexico's reserves play against Denmark. It's not an intentional snub against the WC's of the world--it's just futbol for you.

I cannot believe you still check in on that guy. He is the single reason I no longer set my eyes on the Chron or Chron.com.

No it's not. Ortiz isn't covering the Mexico team, he's just using it to take shots at the U.S. it's a common theme from him.

I noticed you said more "people" not "citizens" followed Mexico vs. the US.

And I might add, the argument that the Mexican fan is far more sophisticated and this can make a quality determination in following El Tri vs. the USA is bogus as well. They have some more talented players but outside of one or two guys, if you put US jerseys on them and couldn't see their skin, half of the El Tri fans wouldn't know the difference. It's a lot less about "futbol" and more about culture.

Oh man, I posted Westie's comments on Stormfront.org and they called me an evil racist. What do you think that means?

For the record, I just reread every one of Ortiz' tweets from the past 36 hours. I don't see anything anybody could argue with. Who wouldn't be disappointed in the crowd or the game last night. And the USWNT did have a larger crowd, and without local stars. As did Mexico, who charged higher prices. And both were on week nights. (The only thing different this night that I can think of is that it was a high school soccer night which might have kept away some of the fans.) And I think it's cool Mexico is on ESPN, why not? Their games and fans are passionate and usually good tv, more good soccer on national tv can only be a positive.

The man who I refuse to acknowledge anymore has grown beyond tiresome. I don't want anyone banned, yes everyone has the right to say what they want. And I don't want to come across as some whiny liberal complainer, but his racist posts for me have lost any humor they maybe used to have. He can say whatever he wants to here; I don't have to read it. And no, I don't have to read his posts, I already know exactly what he is going to say.

That's all....I don't want to start any more debate or discussion, and it has nothing to do with "Dynamo coverage in the Chronicle." I just wanted to get that off my chest. Thanks.

I would suggest using the ignore feature. The more people that add him to their ignore list and stop responding to him the sooner he'll go away.

Just an FYI, but I'd add the fact that it rained much of the day on Tuesday as well.

And that the Mexico match was a WCQ with at least some of their A team.

And that the attendance for the Mexico match was announced as 12,115.

Mexico's Reserves? Hardly bro. They were only missing 4 starters. All European based: Chicharito, Gio, Guardado, Hector Moreno. That's it the rest was their team. USA had a B or even a C team.

My point was that the big stars were not there for the friendly, and the quality of play, and crowd turnout was nice. It's not pretty, but it's the cold hard truth. There is a large market for Mexican soccer.

As I noted above, just over 12,000 at BBVA for the Mexica v Guyana qualifier and that was with Chicarito, Guadardo, Dos Santos, Salcido, Barrerra, etc.

The WNT don't visit too often. They came with their gold medal winning team. They played a previous world power in football and world cup final opponent. So there were 4 current or former Dynamo players on the roster. Local or not, I think that's not a sufficient reason to convince most Dynamo-USA fans to see our "B/trialist" team take on our humble "rivals" Canada. Also, wasn't that mexican Man U player there that night? I also don't mind Mexico being on espn. It's great advertising for the sport. I just want to see our team on basic cable too.

Alright. I see that their first team was there. Why can't I rep sometimes? Probably because I'm still using WinXP and IE7!

I think that there's a strawman being built here. I'm just explaining to WC why people talk about El Tri--it's a popular team and a cash cow. There's not some sinister plot here.

I feel that we need to address the much bigger problem of Dallas Cowboy fans in the greater Houston area.
