Parkhurst is and always has been very good. I watched him play for the Revs for years and the guy is simply great. He doesnt knock his man down to get the ball, he just intercepts the pass before it gets to his man. He hardly ever fouls and is a very good distributor once he gets the ball.

So he moves across the pond a few years ago and now is playing RB, LB some CB and I believe some half as well. On a small WCQ roster he will be gold...no one trick pony here.

His team just won their league and he'll be in the Champions league next year...this could lead to a move to a bigger club if he continues to impress. His career is still on the rise

The bottom line is he has earned this call and should have been called more starting years ago. The fact that BB liked the wide body, bruiser types rather than a cerebral player like Michael is not his fault. Hopefully Klinsmann will keep him on the roster for the upcoming games. He seems to appreciate Michael's game more that Bradley ever did. I'm confident that he will win a spot for all the upcoming games and will make people forget others that didnt get the call

Saw him score once from just over midfield when the opposing goalie got caught out too far. Was a MLS goal of the week I believe

Seems to be little doubt now as to the role that Klinsmann has in mind for Parkhurst: it's as a right back, and as 2nd choice behind Cherundolo:

there's not much context here. on one board, zusi is rated higher than donovan. on both boards, edgar is rated higher than FJ. bradley isn't starting on either board. both formations are 4-4-2

True, perhaps I shouldn't have made it sound so definitive.

But with Morales being sent home, Lichaj getting snubbed and Chandler continuing to waffle it doesn't leave much to the imagination.

Not at all..............esepcially since there's nobody else on this roster seemingly capable of playing over there.

Parkhurst was the starting RB on a team that won the Danish title. He's been very "out of sight, out of mind" for US fans as we don't watch the Danish league. I think we can assume Klinsmann has been watching, though.

We're not going to have Cherundolo start all 5 of these games. My gut tells me Parkhurst gets the start against Canada if he's ready to go.

    It should be.

Parkhurst looked solid, hope he sees more time against Canada, and -- as a super-wammy bonus -- doesn't treat playing for the US as a backup plan. Why would anyone pathetically waste even one electron between their synapses pining for someone who does?

I wouldn't say he looked solid. Hopefully he does better against canada, at least for his sake.

Solid would a strech, he looked shaky in a couple of plays that is for only playing limited minutes. I wouldn't give up on him, he may still come around.

Typical internet stuff. Parkhurst got beat by Neymar, so he's garbage, get rid of him!

I'm concerned that Parkhurst is not a full-time starter with his club, playing in only19/33 matches last season. In his best year, he only played in 23 games. What's up with that?

I think your stats might be off. The sites I've checked have him starting 30 out of 33 games last season. And I believe the matches he missed were due to a broken toe.

In the prior season, I believe injuries ruled him out of 8 or 9 matches.

Btw... in Denmark we have an official Superliga 'Team of the Year' , which does not follow the season, so there is no official 'Team of the season' , but when the newspaper Ekstra Bladet picked their 'Team of the Season'... they chose Parkhurst as their second option as right back, behind Danish international Lars Jacobsen, as you can see in the list below their 'Team of the season' :

I thought Parkhurst looked solid against Jamaica. He was positionally sound (can't remember him getting beaten) and put in our most dangerous cross of the game.

Hard to see him keeping the spot once Cherundolo recovers, but it's nice to know we have a decent back-up at the position.

Parkhurst was fine, but I would like to see him attempt some more crosses when he's in the final third rather than look for the short pass so often.

I think he was instructed not to press forward as much because of the counter. He played within his means.

I think he was the best player on the US side yesterday ... and that's one sad commentary.

Pretty amazing stat that just caught my eye regarding Parkhurst's play in Denmark:

He's a solid deputy at RB, who can also play LB at need, and even CB/DM given his history. He's playing CL footy for the Danish champs. Lichaj, Spector, and Chandler will all have a hard time dislodging him as the #2 RB.
