Russia is showing its true colors in invading Ukraine. It cannot be allowed to do this without consequences.

FIFA needs to show the fortitude others lack, and remove the 2018 FIFA World Cup from Russia. Move it anywhere else.

How about to the country that finished second in the 2018 voting?
If they refuse, offer it to the next highest vote getter. And so on.

No, because the way voting is done, it doesn't mean the runner up was actually second choice.

As for what Russia has done, is actually go and protect the Russian people and their interests. They haven't invaded Ukraine like the original poster would have you believe. They have gone to Crimea where 58% of people living their are Russian.

To kick them out of 2018 would also be saying USA/England any NATO or UN member country also can never host a tournament.

Then re-vote with those who submitted bids and lost the first time around (assuming they're still interested).

LOL I guess the US shouldnt be allowed to host any Sporting event for the next 500 years with all their invasions. Russia didnt invade they are peace keepers and have a right to be there because of treaties from both countries.

Your not going to get into politics but then comment that it's bullshit.....it isn't.

You need to get into politics to understand why.

    1. Russia has laid claim to Crimea since 1992! It's on record, so they can't be invading what they see as theirs to begin with!

    2. Ukraine are pushing the invasion route because of a treaty signed in 1994 that says USA and UK will defend Ukraine's borders. Ukraine see Crimea as theirs, cry foul and the treaty means US/UK must act.

Understand politics before calling it bullshit.

This thread shouldn't be in the football category at all, has nothing to do with Russia hosting 2018 world cup.

I'm inclined to agree. Unless we get some news indicating that moving the 2018 WC is under consideration, this conversation belongs in the politics forum. Whether Russia should suffer repercussions for violating internationally recognized boundaries and what those repercussions should be is a perfectly legitimate set of questions. Just not for this forum. Not until FIFA actually gets involved.
