From a recent article in the Union-Leader:

Robbie McLarney of Londonderry recently had a tryout with the youth system of Newcastle United...

He's from New Hampshire born in 1990. Some more:

Coming out of nowhere this year to lead the Lancers on offense was McLarney, who made the All-State’s first team, the only freshman to make the squad. He was also one of only two selected for All-State in all the classes combined.

Played defense for Region 1 on a recent trip to Argentina:

That Region 1 ODP link brings back memories...I played in the Region 1 ID Camp at Rider University in the late '90s and it was a great experience. I wonder how it has changed. Probably about the same. There were a lot of great players there (Martino, Eskandarian, Gibbs).

Anyways, this is a good find, again. Good to see these kids testing the Euro waters instead of just doing the college route every time. When I was playing I know most of the top players went to college just to play soccer and would've loved to turn pro if they could at the time.

    For what it's worth:

Junior midfielder Robbie McLarney of Londonderry High School was named New Hampshire Gatorade Boys Soccer Player of the Year on Tuesday.

The state’s best player for some time now, McLarney moved to midfield this past fall after playing forward for much of his freshman and sophomore seasons. He followed that by leading the Lancers to a 13-3 season and an appearance in the Class L quarterfinals. McLarney scored 11 goals and added seven assists this season.

I'd consider Davies a Mass. kid. Played for Brooks and FC Greater Boston Bolts. However, I think that all of New England, except for half of Conn. is Mass.

Nope, it's really just Massachusetts. The other states are irrelevant.

Look for Big Sam to begin looking at more and more eligible Yanks for the Toon squad. He's got an eye for undervalued talent and his reorganization of the scouting department means the more players will be unearthed and brought in for trials. The youth academy is a bit underwhelming at the moment and he is looking to restock that as well.

It seems he recently signed for Waterford United in Ireland, playing 60 minutes for them not long ago in a friendly loss against Crystal Palace. He doesn't seem to have a profile on the club site, however.
