That's just great. I'd finally overcome the urge to refer to them as the Smurfquakes. Now, I'll never be able to read their name without thinking EarthQuacks. Fantastic.

At least the Aflac Duck is injured, and won't play on Sat. I heard his insurance is covering most of his salary while he's out, though, so he's got that going for him.

At least this swan is unavailable this week due to injury:

    Swan attacks, drowns man

The swan was probably injured by Rafa Marquez somehow.

    Very true. Great post. :)

Just wanted to point out that the playing field dimensions for San Jose Earthquakes home games didn't simply change from 110 x 70 yards to 115 x 74 yards (close to the ideal 120 x 75 yards) in one offseason, but was rather a gradual progression over the years as listed here.

Unfortunately, the game at AT&T Park earlier this season featured, as will the upcoming June game at Stanford Stadium, a too-small playing field at or near 110 x 70 yards. :(

I'm rather concerned about the Roadrunner. Seems likely our defense will continually injure themselves as he speeds past them.

We'll have to enlist the help of Wiley Coyote and his Acme Offside Trap.

All quacking aside, will anyone outside my party of seven be representing in section A? RSL will be looking to maintain their perfect record for the season in matches I've attended (5-0-0 vs. 0-2-0 at games I've missed.) :-D

Terrible idea. That'd mean our offside trap would be failing all game.

I resisted the urge to click on your link as I didn't want that horrible song stuck in my head all day long. ;)

Yes I am trying to steer this thing back to match conversation.

Kries sees this as a bigger match than the match last week against KC. I agree this is for first place in the west and a opportunity to make the statement that RSL is the quality side in the western conference. Lose this one and I think we will be questioning our team for weeks to come. Win this one and we are out in front in the west and looking forward to seeing some key starters (Morales, Grabavoy) get back into the mix.

On another topic, Ives sees Beckerman getting a call up to the Nats in the coming weeks adding another challange to the club. Funny how while many of us have been critical of his play, Ives has nothing but praise for his play so far this season.

I know we have done very well as of late against San Jose, but this match is worrying, I would sit Sabo in this one for no other reason than to say "play like you did last week and we will go with another striker" but in reality we need Sabo and we need him to step up and help create some space for our other attacking players.

This is going to be a fun match.

The game starts very late for us, 10:30 Eastern. So, we are recording and watching in the AM. While I'm doing well, I've had two heart catheterization procedures (6 stents!) in the past 8 days and I shouldn't be staying up well past midnight.

Glad you're doing well Balance. Keep up the recovery! I'm going to be watching it later tonight on mls live, jazz party with friends, or rsl game alone... figure I might as well hang out with friends (it's not often that I'm feeling social) and then watch the RSL game afterwards. That way I get both. :)

It took me five minutes to get that lineup deali-o to display even quasi-correctly, so I'll leave an errors in who-plays-on-what-side in place, thank you very much. :)

Morales and steele in place of Gil and Valasquez.
Looking forward to seeing Morales back not as sur about Steele.
Like hearing Jason call on his team to come out attacking.
2-1 RSL. Goal by Espindola and Morales.

Nick Rimando is apparently a "flashy" goalkeeper. Because he's wearing a bright orange kit today.

Also, these SJ announcers are pronouncing it 'Sabario.'

San Jose can't get moving on their stadium too fast for me. This close camera position at Buck Shaw always gives me motion sickness.

Another corner where we let a dangerous player get wide open for a shot. We got lucky on that one, but there's something we really need to work on badly.

Did SJ grease up the field before this game?

Nicky really saved Nicky on that one play when he played a bad ball out to Beltran. Overall you have to give a big edge in quality chances to San Jose so far, and that's with the Quakes playing three starters.

    Ah - red to Espindola.
