FC this week, I barely missed a draw vs. bellissimo, falling three or five overs short. Sulieman Seargeant for Norse and Simms for bellissimo were the offensive stars in the match, as neither batsman was retired and both posted cumulative totals over 300 for the match.

ODL is ongoing at the moment. howzzat crossed me up by changing their bowling lineup, putting Kepler in the middle instead of opening and bowling through. Fortunately, my reversed order held up as he failed to retire either Willie or Morrell, both of whom posted very solid totals. Our posted target of 278-6 could be makable, I'm going to need the bowlers to have a good day.

And my bowlers shat the bed. Looks like I'll be stuck in OD-III for another season.

won both my FC and OD matches this season. Not sure how much i'm going to be able to play my best lineup in FC due to the fitness of my guys

I am sure you noticed, but I quit as I got more and more frustrated not being able to access the site from work.

Maybe I will try the game in the future, we'll see.

so I won by FC match last weekend against Bellissimo by THREE runs. can't believe it got that close considering both of us were bowled out in the first innings for like 110 runs each in sunny weather and the weather on day 3 was partly cloudy and humid! He then took revenge and beat me in our ODer by like 20ish runs. Two really great matches!

From what I've seen, the run totals in the second innings tend to run a lot higher than the run totals in the first innings.

I gave Og a right thumping in the cup match, a bit to my surprise.

well that 3rd day in FC and my GFI in the OD match has messed up the pfl of some of my guys. I know we're playing in FC tomorrow and I have to rest some players :)

won't say who to keep you guessing!! :D

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

Oh yeah, my reward for beating Og is Asterix.

You've got interesting standards for needing to rest players.

well, some guys recovered a bit so I decided to only rest Butcher. I was going to rest all my bowlers but I wanted to have at least a chance to get a draw

Chance at a draw? You should win easily if you've got all your bowlers in. I was hoping that Coetzer might sit it out, as he was the only guy that looks like a first choice player below energetic PFL going into the match.

I didn't even figure Butcher in because he didn't appear to be part of your normal lineup.

if you get my key batsmen out you'll bowl me out for cheap and Olivier is tired. Coetzer is my best bowler skillwise, but Butcher is only below him in secondaries and still getting trained (which is why his pfl is lowest of my starting bowlers)

We'll see... I really have very little feel for how my bowlers perform at taking wickets in FC vs. a competent batting lineup. I know that this bowling lineup wouldn't be nearly enough to win against a good team in OD play, though.

    He never did go. :)

502 is kind of an odd number. I would have gone for something round like 500 or 510. If your goal was to turn me loose with a few overs left in the day, you made it, barely.

I'd feel better about my prospects for a draw if the deficit weren't quite so big.

I think I picked 502 because it was a 200 run lead. I actually didn't think I'd make it. If I can get some early wickets it'll make for an interesting last day. plus you'll have a decent sized crowd, I would think!

I'm liking the probable crowd money. I think I've seen a pretty good bump up there relative to my usual performance when I was in III.

I think my survival in the match depends on Morrell and Seargeant, with me trusting Seargeant more for obvious reasons.

Looks like we're headed for a draw barring either an insane collapse on my part or a ridiculous run rate on your part. The only question will be whether I wind up batting out the day.

yeah, it's going to be a draw. Can't see me taking enough wickets, and if you declare soon I won't have enough time

I'm not declaring, but I should have. I could have saved Sarge a few balls, and I may regret not doing so come next Monday.

then you are batting this one out. can't see me bowling you out at all. my bowlers sucked it up today. My ODer is going to be a lot rougher then it should be tomorrow. I hope I can win. Thankfully I've got the bot in FC next week.

I think a significant part of that is the combination of bad weather (for bowling) and good batsmen. Ritchie has elite concentration (primary's nothing to write home about, but secondaries help a lot in FC), and of course you know what Sarge's skills are.

yeah, if the weather had not been sunny there may have been a result. damn, you have two guys with elite concentration? that is nice. I'm trying to train Ollie to elite/elite, we'll see if I have the patience for it. I do know that secondaries are great for FC matches. T Rose is ok for his primary, but his strength is his consistency

The second guy is a wicketkeeper, so he was getting three nets (batting, wk, fielding) that all give secondary training at various points. Plus, I was mainly only single-netting him, so he got quite a lot of training after age 20, and secondary training picks up as a player gets older.
