She was at a UW-UP Spring scrimmage Saturday and was asked about it.

She plans on playing and has a Sounders contract.

Thanks for the update, I had a feeling it was a slip up.

BTW, I too was at the Portland-UW on Sunday, nasty Seattle spring weather. Let's hope it warms up for Monday night's Sounders Women's opener.

    Your wish is granted.

Sounderswomen's website promises live webcasts of their home games, including tonight. They have a "click here" option up now.

    http://sounderswomen.com/

The webcast starts at 7:00. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 Pacific.

Apparently Rapinoe is being held out, but otherwise all the advertised players will be there( including Winters).

SPU is a very good D2 team. They should give SW a good match.

...is anyone else getting absolutely no audio?

    =edit=
Scratch that; five minutes later and the sound kicked in.

I had pretty good sound and video on an iPad. you might want to check into the quality of your wifi connection. i didn't go to full screen mode though.

stretchnet is only as good as the receiving end.

Yeah, it echoed through most of it, IIRC. Sounded like itwas the PA announcedr doing PBP. But it was a pretty good stream.

Now they just need to plug in the jersey numbers for the roster section.

    Oh, and sell tees online.

I went to the game last night (I live in Seattle now, at least temporarily) and I was impressed with the showing. The grandstand was full, the bleachers on the other side were full and people sitting, standing on the grass. I'm guessing between 4,500 to 5,000 in attendance.

Seattle Pacific was pretty much over-matched by the more experienced Sounders Women but they did get a shot or two off on Hope Solo. SP's goalie came up big a few times on some sure goal shots and made some nice saves.

Alex Morgan scored on a nice turn with the left in the lower right corner from the left side of the penalty box and it went by 3 or 4 people.

Solo played up to the crowd by throwing a kiss at the Sounders support group when they chanted her name.

All in all, a great crowd and a good time.

Starfire Complex is a nice venue and would be a perfect place for a women's pro team.

You are so funny. For one thing, there wasn't a single Nike ad or promotion happening last night.

Sounder's women have a happy mixture of Solo, Cox, Leroux, Perez, the Sounders brand, inrastructure, partnerships with Starfire and local sponsors:

But clearly it's all just being done for the benefit of the Alex Morgan Machine.;)

All last year there were no streams of WPS games. Why? With the partnerships listed above, everything doesn't have to be invented from scratch.

The atmosphere at the first two "exhibition" games has been out of this world. After the first game dozens of fans waited to meet Hope Solo and get her autograph. Some were lucky but many left disappointed when the two uniformed sheriffs shooed them away and escorted her off the field.

Other players were signing autographs at a table, and even that line had to be cut off in the end.

Hope was supposed to be signing autographs at that table after the game on Friday, but those plans were scrapped after the mayhem following the first game. She was pulled early in the second half and quietly left the field while the game was still in progress to avoid the rush.

A person at the game said Hope left really early. Judging by recent news it was probably because of family illness more than the crowd. Nothing stopped her from sticking around the first game even if it annoyed the security she kept asking to stay around a little longer so she could keep signing. Someone took pictures of that in tumblr. Maybe when Rapinoe shows up it will spread things out. She's more hands on with fans too.

Kate Deines was interviewed on Nos Audietes. A good interview from someone dealing with the WPS draft letdown who ended up with Sounders Women instead and how her life has changed.

No it wouldn't, it's in a location where there's already a pretty big women's soccer following and good possibilities for building a large fan base.;)

Care to expand on this? The first part of your comment seems to contradict the last part..

Although, I will also say that the success of the Sounders Women is based solely on the influx of WNT players to the team. Prior to this season their attendance was in the very low hundreds, if that. If those players, particularly Hope Solo, leave, then I don't doubt they'll experience a serious drop off and, eventually, return to their previous numbers.

I was being facetious, which always has the potential to create confusion I know.

I think Seattle is a great location and would be for a WPS team. I think Vancouver and Portland would be great too. There is excellent support for soccer in general, and for women's soccer, in each city, and I think those cities would be far more likely to have success with women's professional soccer than the East Coast cities that WPS has focused on. I think the WPS execs disregarded where women's soccer fans are and instead decided to go where the big TV markets are, and I think that was a big mistake.

My previous post meant to convey, somewhat sarcastically, that the WPS execs certainly wouldn't want to locate their franchises in cities with good women's soccer fan bases and the potential to grow them even more.

I thought there was something in that smilie's eye. ;)

But anyhow, wherever it works, it works. How far away from DT Seattle is Starfire/Tukwila? Still in King co., right? Looks like a good size, anyhow.

Not far, but it is a b***h to get to, parking is limited, and there isn't really thing to do pre-game or post-game within walking distance.
