Shameful performance. Watson had better be full of apology after this. There's absolutely nothing positive to take from this other than the fact that our A-league roster is no longer able to hang with the rest of the MLS. While most teams have been loading for bear, we've been pinching pennies.

No possession at all. We're playing kickball more than last year....the only lie I can tell myself is that we do play better and different at home.

Crap Crap Crap! Typical Quakes soccer , trying to play catch up with an inconsistency in the midfield and their forward line looked like amateurs with the exception of Wondo's miss. Koval did nothing and Pierazzi other than his bike was invisible as was Salinas. Not sure how this is supposed to be positive soccer.

so what are we doing?! can't cross, no creativity, can't keep possesion, no depth. No one can defend this crap style we play. It's like a glorified college team. I understand the handball call was pretty weak, but we didn't do anything ALL game long. This kick ball style continues. WE. ARE. A. BAD. TEAM.

we are so tedious to watch at times. they are tired, and just suffered an
emotional defeat in Mexico, but I defy a Quakes coach, player, or fan to find something positive out of this match.

we can play Cronin OR Pierazzi, not both. just concedes too much to the other team, and makes us too damn predictable.

You know I saw the Cal-SJSU spring match last night at Spartan and Kevin Grimes had CAL pinging the ball around like Spain. It was an incredible display and I was amazed at the skill level. It was much better (as well as more skilled) than this game by far!

I thought Pierazzi played an ok game. But, as usual, we can't string any passes together. Same long ball futility. I guess the silver lining in all this is that it took a penalty kick for the defending MLS champs to beat us at home, and we are still not at full strength. Missing both outside backs and Djalo will eventually be starting ahead of Attiba the Useless at RM.

man, that's really sad..... I can't defend anymore our 'Quakes, when other coaches and fans complain about our negative and boring style, they're 100% right. It's unwatchable.

Atiba gets in position and does dumb things. He looks like the weakest link to me. I will have to watch the pk call again, and I know we're not supposed to blame anything on the ref, but he's making me miss those scabs.

Both teams looked knackered. A tie would have been fair, but we probably sucked worse than they did. Considering the brutal schedule and the caliber of opponent, a 1-0 loss isn't great but it's respectable.

SKC is a much better team playing @ home on a short week 4 both teams - a tall order. CM is a problem ...We have 3 good players at CM that do exactly the same thing - play DM. Harris needs to be replaced...DJ where R U???Finally, notice how poor Busch's distribution is...Reminds me of Cannon at the end of his run ...Honestly , not 2 worried about this one...Remember SKC only got 1 goal and on a PK off an unlucky handball. We have to improve the attack but otherwise ...Move on...

I watched the skc feed, and their sideline reporter mentioned how we couldn't do anything in midfield and hadn't even completed 100 passes by the 80th!! minute.....

Somewhat concerned that we can't use injuries all that much as an excuse in this one. The outside backs were the only deltas from best case starting squad, along with Djalo.

Salinas had legs of rubber. As did Lenny. Yes, I know that KC played at altitude Tuesday like we did. But our 120 minutes of intensity against Toluca has to have been more draining than getting blown out by Cruz Azul in 90. The injury situation only made it worse. Given the schedule and injuries, I never had much hope for this match. Getting a point would have been remarkable and in the end it took a pk for KC to win. I'm not nearly as troubled as most of you.

Now we have a week off. Hopefully some of the injured will be back -- either Gorlitz or Bark, Stewart maybe. Maybe, just maybe Djalo can make an appearance. And, Salinas, Lenny, Wondo et al will be rested.

Bad coaching, the players have been coached to play in a certain style and system which is ugly & predictable, plus a massive lack of good players. When are we going to enter the 21st centaury? The game has moved a ways in the last few years like Falvo said, even college teams pinging the ball around, it's the modern game & we are stuck in the dark ages.
We hired a clueless coach, because it was the lazy, easy & least expensive thing to do & now we are getting our rewards.

Plus look at the guys brought in, Harris, Francis, Pierrazi, Barklage, Stephenson, all of them are either mediocre journeymen or just total nothing players. In all seriousness none of those players are going to add anything to our team.
Could be a long season, I think we are terrible, like we were for most of last season, hopefully we can improve or something can happen i don't even know, we live in hope.

JPB had a better showing and showed some class at the CDM position.

Harris was bad. When he wasn't giving the ball away, he was on the ground.

Goodson was a step slow in reacting to a lot of what was pit in front of him.

Francis had a couple gaffs, but was more of an asset than liability.

Salinas just needs to learn how to cut in AND shoot. I don't think he has yet to make a goalie earn his paycheck from a shot at goal in these opening games.

Cato needs to be freed up of being a RB. He did ok as a RB, but was unable to really contribute to the attack because of his position, and because Harris kept losing the ball.

    Bernardez was fine.

I think Busch had trouble with distribution because of the wind.

Wondo and Lenhart each had a poor first touch and horrible shots.

Cronin wasn't actually bad, I wonder why he was pulled.

    JJK played average today.

    Gordon didn't bring the magic.

Why didn't Wat bring on Schuler for Lenny? Is he forgetting how to sub again?

I think the team needs a break to rest and get healthy. They have not yet fielded their best XI.

Exactly. Watson had no head coaching experience in college pro. You don't always need that but in his case its evident he does need help and experience. He inherited Frank's team and all this Goonie crap is cool for a while and all but sooner or later good teams will get your number. The journeymen midfield is also something I can't take anymore. The depth looks good sometimes and horrid others. I know this in their 4th game in 11 days but this type of catchup play can not continue all season long. We need to have a more dominating defense and we need better production from our mids and forwards. No one wants to address it but our great DP/MVP Wondo blew a clear cut scoring opportunity and that free kick over the bar was nowhere near the goal. He can't even convert pk's and he is supposed to be our free kick specialist like Pirlo? I mean please!

I think Wondo has played his way off the WC squad. His performance has been unacceptable.
