What's your starting lineup based on the players selected?

    Here's mine:

    --------------------Romero*------------------------
    Burdisso----Demichelis----Samuel----Gutierrez
    --------------------Mascherano--------------------
    ----Messi------------Pastore----------DiMaria----
    -----------------Tevez----Milito--------------------

The attack is this century's murderer's row.

well we pretty much know what its gonna be... but if i could choose i'd do

    ------------Romero
    --Samuel---Demi----Heinze
    Jonas------Masch-----Di Maria
    ------------Pastore
    --Messi-----Milito---Higuain

higuain needs to be in the line up because he has given us goals. milito and tevez have had many chances and failed. milito deserves another chance, but for me tevez should remain a super sub.

i agree with u , in world cup kind of big tournaments we need to make sure our defense should be good enough tackle the opponents.....

so my line up will be

    --------------------Romero------------------------
    Burdisso----Demichelis----Samuel----Gutierrez
    ------------Mascherano-----Veron-----------
    ----Jonas-----------------------------DiMaria----
    -----------------Messi----higuain--------------------

if we need to add more attacking options

sub jonas with tevez and shuffle the lineup like

    --------------------Romero------------------------
    Burdisso----Demichelis----Samuel----Gutierrez
    ------------Mascherano-----Veron-----------
    ----Messi-----------------------------DiMaria----
    -----------------Higuain----tevez--------------------

    ------------------------Veron-------------Mascherano-----------------

I would like this line-up to be the starting line-up. Except Micho hasn't been in good form after the injury and I really feel nervous with him at the back. I would start Burdisso over him.

when did he say that? i've never seen such a quote. when he was on with niembro, he said samuel would be a starter, and almost every media outlet feels the same way. i'd wager quite a bit of cash that samuel is a starter. the guy is probably the best cb in the world right now

Hmmm i'm pretty sure he said it was Samuel and Demichellis, don't know where your getting your resources but id also put a wager on Samuel starting.

If anything it's samuel who has the starting spot and Demichellis/burdisso/otamendi in the race for the other center back spot depending on who maradona puts at right back either gutierrez or otamendi

This is a dream team alright, but it is hardly balanced. It relies heavily on Mascherano and the defenders. Moreover, Mascherano would have to drop down even farther than if Veron was there. I am guessing it could leave a huge gap in the middle. Unless you want Pastore to play similarly to Verón which is clearly not his best fit. I'd probably go with

    Romero
    Burdisso - Demichelis - Samuel - Heinze
    Mascherano - Veron
    Messi - Tevez/Pastore - Di Maria
    Milito

I thought about what you say, and you have a point. Especially when we get to play a team like Brazil, Spain, Netherlands for example, my lineup might be unbalanced.

But for the first round, I think with the players I chose we'd maximize our chances to advance and break the defensive puzzle that most likely will be thrown at us by our opponents. And the added advantage is that it lets Veron be fresh for when he's needed.

so what? they are all centerbacks, the whole point is that everyone can replace another one.

I think mascher and veron are going to play alternatively, that's all the defensive elements necessary. There's no need of one guy playing DM and another to distribute, that retarded position is already eliminated with the exclusion of cambiasso.

    I think it will be

    CB-CB-CB-CB
    Mascherano/Veron/Bolatti
    Maxi DiMaria/Gutierrez Pastore
Messi Tevez Higuain / Aguero Palermo Milito

basically a 4-1-2-3 where there're a lot of offensive variations.

If it's a tough match he can put another DM on if we had already scored, since we have a coach impervious to taunting with accusation of negativity.

Haven said that, I do believe he will play both mascher and veron in the opening match, just because it's an african team, so 1. more overlaping zone coverage can't hurt, 2. it doesn't take 5 offensive players to score on undisciplined defenses.

That might be a good idea since Nigeria has dangerous strikers but a poor midfield and questionable defense, so I'd be cool with a formation similar to the one that played at Germany, with Messi and Higuain or Milito up front. But against Korea and Greece I'd like to see a more offensive formation, with Tevez also in the mix, as we saw against Canada.

Then for the second round Diego can go with what works best, and also adjust a bit depending on the opponent.

I'm definitely not a racist, but there are fundamental physical differences and Korea is probably best dealt with by managing time and avoid too many clashes. More pressure can makes the job more difficult.

Nigeria will be a test for the defense, and they probably get stronger as the tournament progresses, so playing them first isn't necessarily a bad thing, and we have a solid chance drawing them. I'm not sure if it's worthy to risk it for a win.

I think we can get 3 from Greece. Let's see how Korea do. If they can mark Gekas, so can we. And maybe we can go into the game against Korea looking for a draw too.

We should be looking to beat Nigeria, they are average at best.
