No need, Larry Wilmore will be debuting his show January 19th, after the Daily Show.
I'll check that show out too, but I really want to see how straight-up Colbert handles a talk show.
The Colbert ending, annotated so you can see who everyone in the segment is:
Will Colbert be saying his name as Cole-bear still now that the character is done?
That is a really amazing group of people to have at one place at the same time.
He was also Col-bear when he was a correspondent on The Daily Show.
But that Col-bear was the same one from the Colbert Report. He just took his act over to his own show.
He's stated that the Late Night Colbert will not be the caricature that was on the Colbert Report. As for his name, guess we'll have to wait and see. There have been interviews where he's stated he's used Col-bear for a long time now.
It wasn't the same character, though the seeds were there.
But anyway, I believe he has said in the past that he has used it since college, and given that no one knows who Steven ColberT is, I can't imagine CBS will want him to drop the affectation.
Jessica Williams interviews Alabama's "fetus" lawyer. A recently passed law allocates state funds to pay for lawyers to represent fetuses. Traditionally if a teen doesn't get parental consent for an abortion, she can go to court. With the new law, the teen is basically put on trial. So Jessica asks some important questions of the fetus lawyer:
"You get a call from a fetus seeking legal representation..."
"How do you maintain confidentiality with your client?"
"How do you know if a fetus is innocent? A fetus can eat its twin in utero. It makes a conscious choice to gobble up its twin and you're just gonna let him walk?"
I watched that last night in amazement. Gotta love the South.
You know there's a Lawyer thread don't you? Just saying...
We was fahn 'til them thar Nawthuhn agitaters come down heah an' filled haids wi' nonsense...
Ah regret that Ah have but one rep to give fer this here post...
If fetuses are now people in court, the scrawny little bastards better be ready, willing & able to defend this here country on the battlefield like all red-blooded 'Mericans.
My understanding is that most of them don't work, too... lazy little bastards.
Fetuses don't even have the gumption to suck on a teat!
Larry Wilmore's "Nightly Show" premieres tonight.
I miss Colbert...
And so far this hasn't made me miss him just a little less. It was pretty meh to me. I know it was only the first episode and you could tell he was nervous and they still need to work through a few things.
I'll give it some more time, it just started, but for me... if they can't right the ship a bit I'm not sure how much time I will give it. Definitely at least a month.
But they still can't drink alcohol until they're 21.
The only person I know who can do a good roundtable discussion is Chris Hayes, and he's been doing it for a while. They need effort to set up correctly, and a firm, quick hand to make them function.
I know just the person with that firm, quick hand.
So far, Nightly has promise and some good moments in the A and C blocks. The roundtable discussions are really bad.
