Thats if you think Lamb and Martin are worthless. Of course, at this present moment, both of them combine dont really stack up to Harden. But I think Lamb will be a good nba player.

The consensus on Lamb seems to be that he might turn into a good starter but not a star.

    Sounds fair.

Its just that this Harden contract talk has been mentioned since last season. It seems he really wanted that max contract [he deserves it], and OKC couldnt afford it. I think he was always going to leave after the season he just had.

From what I understand, he asked for 60 million for 4 years and got offered 53 million.
The question the Thunder have to ask themselves is if that 7 million difference (plus whatever luxury tax implications it might have) is worth the knock they took on their championship credentials.

I thought Terrence Jones deserved the minutes that Marcus Morris got, he had a great preseason, but I guess that's why they tell us not to take to much from those games. But damn, Morris was bad.

Couldn't afford it? OKC made a $35m profit last season. And they played 62 games. So anyone who says they can't afford is it lying.

That makes no sense whatsoever since he's a multiple All Star and All NBA selection.

So you are saying, they couldve given Harden the max contract and that there's something else behind the tradE?

They didn't want to pay that luxury tax, I think that's pretty much it.

Problem is the owners would rather make $35m a year and lose in the Confrence Finals then make $10m a year and win it all.

That's pretty much it, they can make more money by being a fringe contender than by paying Harden to be one of the two or three title favorites.

This is why business people should not be allowed to own sports teams. There are too many lives effected by their greed.

Just to play DA, it was pretty much conventional wisdom last season that the Thunder would be hard pressed to keep all four youngsters and that if they could only keep three, Harden would be the odd (even?) man out. Maybe they feel that time is on their side and not signing Harden gives them some flexibility down the road when it is their turn to rule the league.

Flexibility going forward for sure, but less likely to win championships. I think they should have made the run at the ship, and then refinance down the road.

Why would they be less likely? KD is barely 24 and the other two are 23. In three years they'll just be entering their primes. By then the Heat superfriends could have opted out of their contracts or at the very least be three years older and in their 30's. Lakers, Spurs, Celtics will all be older and possibly dismantled.

True, I suppose it could be viewed as an instant gratification vs delayed gratification thing. And how well you take losing a key piece of a contender(every bit as valuable as Westbrook) for a chance at a Dynasty in 3/4 years time.

Maybe the owner, knows what we all already know? The next 3 titles are going between Lakers and Heat?

Obviously no one would really say that even if they think that, but its the truth. They are probably never going to win a ship while Lebron and Co, and now the Lakers are here.

Meh, thanks for clarifying though guys.

OKC letting Harden go was one of the dumbest moves I can think of recently in the NBA. Harden has hit 17 points so far in the first half today.

Knicks are taking irt to the Heat right now and Melo is going off. Go Knicks not just cause I’m a fan but for the entire city of NYC after the storm. Really hope they win. The massive crowd support considering what happened is huge.

Harden hit 45 points today vs. the Hawks. And the Knicks spanked the Heat by 20 points. Melo with 30 points. Brilliant.

Hencheg don’t be an a*shole. The Knicks played for NYC in honor of all the destruction that happened and the people who died. That’ why they honored people before hand.
