I take it waiver draft is reverse order of finish last year. 13 teams (minus Vancouver) would get a chance before us.

Still will be interesting, anyone know if there is anyone else we might be interested in waiver draft?

Rangers going to have to cut or force pay reductions, from Ives-
    http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...t-cuts-rooney-bale-fit-for-key-bout-more.html

    (This is whole story)
It is about to go from bad to worse for a number of players at Rangers FC.

With the outlook of the near future looking bleak after the club was forced to go into administration, Rangers players are meeting with union officials to explore their possibilities in anticipation of numerous cuts. According to the BBC, manager Ally McCoist has been told that as many as 11 players could be let go on Friday as the proud club goes through a treacherous time.

In an attempt to cut costs while the club strives for financial stability, the BBC reports that a pay cut of either 50 percent or 75 percent could be instituted as well, with some wages being deferred until the end of the current season.

These developments could affect the three Americans at Rangers, as Maurice Edu, Carlos Bocanegra and Alejandro Bedoya await Friday's announcement.

So Revolution pick up Nguyen in waiver draft.

Anyone else find it weird that last 2 defense first teams (NE Revolution and CO Rapids) switch coaches and tactics this year to be more offensive?

I can't think of a single D first side now in MLS.

Over years I thought MLS has had way too many "co-indences" to think there is not something behind them.

MLS extends season after new USMNT coach calls for longer season.

USSF instructs all youth teams to play 4-3-3 versions, basically MLS follows "suit".

At time of Expansion draft, Galaxy look like they have lost most of midfield. M. Stevens a top rated midfielder (by all kinds of media) is left unprotected by them- he is not drafted by Impact. He now looks like he will be playing, besides giving LA depth, for U-23 US Olympic team (Showing his talent again).

Bolton played Tim Ream at D-mid today. He did not have a perfect game, but didn't look lost, either. Overall, he did not appear to do much to help or hurt the team. Silva and Aguero did not play though Yaya Toure did. There was one play when Ream tried to run Toure off the ball and Ream more or less bounced off.

Not sure Rapids would have any interest in Bedoya. Read somewhere that Vancouver tried to sign Boca before and is first in line (Allocation) now for them if they sign on with MLS.

    from Ives:
A possible source of income for Rangers would be to sell players to countries that have open transfer windows. This includes the USA, Canada, Japan and several Scandinavian countries. Rumors have already begun circulating about American players Carlos Bocanegra and Alejandro Bedoya potentially coming to MLS, with Maurice Edu a good bet to be sold in the summer.

CU Buffs men's basketball team seems like it has a soccer-style supporters' group in the student section.

The guy who founded the "CUnit" in Boulder actually helped start up the NCC back in 08/09. He has a huge background in supporter culture.

That's cool. And makes sense given how they look/sound. I wonder if this is catching on for other college basketball teams. Though the Buffs had a more moribund program than most, so perhaps there isn't as much of an opportunity at other schools.

It's awesome that 50 of them were sent to LA for the tourney.

The Dawg Pack in Seattle has had a SG feel since it started up a few years ago.

I’m watching the debut of MLS on NBC Sports and Arlo White’s voice is tortured cat-ing the production value down. It’s frustrating, because it could have been cool. I want to watch but I also don't like my skin crawling.

He'd be fine if they'd stop paying him per word. I'm guessing he'll be better for NBC as a neutral, too.

Have to hand it to TFC for knocking out loaded Galaxy team. That was some performance.

That Santos team looked familiar. Saw the same high tempo style at the Dick.

Same smell of roasted MLS defender, too.

They were even missing one of the Rapids' tormentors, Quintero, the little guy, #3, very fast. If he weren't hurt, Herc would have been coming off the bench.

That said, after the 1st leg I though Seattle had a shot at it. I thought they had enough of an attack to put Santos on their heels at times. I guess just not in Torreon.

I think we are getting closer but MLS will always need a bit of luck to pass through these CCL games in our "pre-season".

That said, until MLS can pay players up to $500K without triggering DP and add say another $1-1.5M to Cap. I think we play at significant dis-advantage unless we find the mother load of Young, cheap, high quality players.

So Santos is through and Metapan is leading in their series. I still think we botched the CCL last year but at least we don't look so bad in doing it now.

We definitely botched it as Metapan sucks. I don't blame Gary for resting some players but we didn't field a strong enough team for many games. That being said, LA shows what can happen when you don't rest anybody. You suck in CCL and the league.
