Because it's no problem at all to find a vacant stadium in another country and get everyone on airplanes and sell tickets with only about 14 hours until it's supposed to start.

They booked the stadium in Cyprus about a week ago.

Don't mind me...I thought it was Tuesday already. Much better soccer weather in Cyprus anyway.

On the positive side, at least the Quakes crest (and the U.S. crest, for that matter) is better than Ukraine's, which looks roughly like a pineapple.

Ukraine's soccer crest seems to be a combination of a soccer ball, the word "Ukraine" and a curvy version of the country's coat of arms. :)

Well, I'm sure it has a lot of wonderful references, but it still looks like a pineapple to me :--).

Ukraine barely missed out on making this year's World Cup :(, so its players and coaches will have time in the next few months to visit Hawaii and other pineapple-laden lands. :)

Not watching the game but I think being without their MLS players and/or the core of the team or rather guys who haven't really played together before isn't helping. Not sure who the Europeans based players are but they aren't always the solution to ones woes.

Klinsie looked terrified for the first half of the game, but by the end he almost looked smug, as if he was relishing the idea of giving his "you suck" speech.

That was a horrible game. Really should put an end to all U.S. Eurosnobbery.

Ukraine beat France by the same score as us today. They look WC caliber and I'm not sure the US is. One positive note (or not, as you prefer) is that the odds of Clarence and Wondo getting on the 23 have increased.
