I am at the Sears Centre watching the game. Some initial impressions...

Not a terrible crowd. Maybe around 2000.
Moment of silence for the shooting victims today included a prayer that included the words "Lord" and "Amen".
The Wave dressed both GKs tonight. Oliviero and Greenfield are scratches.

PA guy is kind of doing a radio play-by-play, and butchers most names along the way. He gave up on Radoncic and just says "Bato" now.

Novi Marojevic in a suit, Chicago dressed only 14 players.

Wave PPG Olivera 6:20. End of first quarter, Wave 2 - Soul 0.

The dance team is called the Soul Mates. That is pretty clever.

    More as stuff happens.

Appreciate the game report! I got cut up at work today and missed the Wave fan bus. Probably by just a few minutes. How many supporters did the Wave send?

Quite a few. Their "Lets Go Wave" drowns out "Lets Go Soul".

    Maybe 50 in that section.

Now if you excuse me, I am skipping the medeval knight halftime-advertshow in favor of looking at the original Batmobile on the concourse.

"it's four-on-four but the Wave is making it look like its five-on-four."

Umm, that's because it is five-on-four....

Wave goal Leite 3G (14:57). End of third quarter, Wave 7 - Soul 0.

It has occurred to me... The Storm was a horrible offensive team their last season, and this year the Soul has many if the same players... Stewart, Radoncic, Degans, Farias, Mariovic, etc. Ergo, no scoring this year, either.

The Soul defense is solid, though. Ayegbusi and Gallo are horses.

Soul - Farias 4:46. Wave had just killed a two minute penalty from Oatley.

Final 9-2 Wave. I am serious that at least 150 Wave fans are standing and cheering right now. Very impressive showing.

Just got back from the game. They may announce 2,000 but there was 1/3 of the crowd they had at the first game when they announced 3448.Milwaukee goalkeeper was spectacular, especially early and probably deserved the shutout he almost got.The soul hustled but the talent is just not there.

First of all I want to say the game presentation was a million times better than last week. I only heard girls just want to have fun one time and that was before warmups. The music was pop and hip hop for the most part. The PA announcer was much better but Les still butchered names. On to the crowd. I say there was about 2000 as well. I do not think the Wave fans were too loud, I was sitting across the field from them. I think the Soul played well. They outshot the Wave 31-18. Vorberg was great tonight. The Soul peppered him early but he was good tonight. Richey let in a soft one early and that was it. Hammes has picked up where the Dusosky sisters have left off. He cries about everything and starts a lot of crap on the field. Tough loss as the score was worse than what actually happened. The team hustled but lacks finishing and needs a big save now and then.

I was there as well.....I would be hard pressed to say there were more than a couple of hundred people in attendance. Sat right next to the Soul bench in the first row in the first half and right next to the Soul penalty box in the second.

My impression is that the Soul played a bit better than the Wave...actually a LOT better in the first half, and should have been up by at least two goals going into intermission. I disagree with the person who thinks the soul lacks the talent...talent they have, organization and conditioning they don't. THAT was the difference in the match.

Talked to Novi for about 5 minutes before the match..he has taken over as head coach, Manny is gone.

The announcer all night was calling Liete Hewerton...as well as calling Hewerton by his own name. It was especially funny when he tried to explain that Hewerton (actually Liete) had an assist on Hewerton's goal lol. The Soul definitely had a better attack tonight, but the Wave at times are content to sit in a defensive shell and only attack when the opportunity presents itself. Not only did Voberg play a great game but the defense did a fantastic job of racking up the blocks as well. Very fun game to watch.

My family and I had a great time at the game tonight, and the people sitting around us seemed to enjoy the game too. We had great seats a few rows behind the Soul bench for only $11 each. I thought the Soul came out very strong, but Nick Vorberg was excellent. I don't think the Soul will beat the Blast next Friday, but I think they'll win a lot more in the second half of the season. I'm going to keep attending games and talk the team up as much as I can.

Also, I enjoyed hearing the song Soul Man and I hope it becomes the team theme song. Maybe they could replace the guys in the green body suits with a couple of characters dressed like the Blues Brothers.

Sir, and I'm old enough to have seen Rudy Getzinger and Gordon Hill in Sting uniforms. Its all relative. Granted Chile Farias is not Pato Margetic, but its not like the wave were rolling out stan terlecki, Steve zungul, stan stamenkovic, Kai Kaaskivi, Branko Segota, Tatu, or Preki either.

Compared to the rest of the talent in the league the Soul has the talent to keep pace. Chile, Stewart and Megson are all good scorers, it doesn't help having turnover at the top. That inconsistency alone could be manifesting itself on the field.

I also like Meza and Munoz even if they didn't do much last night.

Yes, this is a problem. The talent has dropped immensely. Indoor game has become kick off the boards and glass. Very unattractive for a real soccer fan. Marjetic, Granitza, Tatu, Veee, Zungul and many others, unfortunately those day's are gone. Player's like we mentioned, brought the outdoor game indoors, that is what we enjoyed.

I put the comment about Novi in a suit, because if he was only dressing 14 players, he could have dressed himself, too... if nothing else, just for an extra body to take a shift here and there.

Another thing that I saw yesterday was between Farias and Fontana. Chile has never been known for fouling (I mean, look at him after a foul is called on him... it's never his fault). But during the game he was battling along the boards with Fontana and knocked him over. But when Fontana was Farias' coach for Omaha, he must have made an impression because not only did Farias accept the foul, he helped Fontana up and gave him a bit of a hug.

Good point, Fontana was player/manager for a while for the Vipers, surprised he didn't dress.

I am sure I am going to create a sh*t storm , but if what I saw last night is the MISL product, as it is, then they might as well shut this all down now.

This was my first indoor game since the Storm's last Pro season. I missed the Riot all together. What I watched was just horrible and non entertaining. This league has ruined what was once an exciting, action filled game. The live color commentary by Grobstein is cringe worthy. Removing the glass, except for the ends, has caused too much stop time and less up the field , off the boards passes. Guys wont take another into the boards without the glass.

Too many b.s. foul calls , slowing down the play. Let them play , and lay for dead like the old MISL used to do. Every whistle does not have to have at least 3 players whining about it.

This is not the MISL or even the NPSL that I used to watch. This was bush league, as minor league as it gets, unless you are playing in a rec arena in the PASL. I won't even start on the b.s. MPS topic. A goal is a goal, 1 point, period!

Sorry, had to vent because I was really unhappy with what I experienced last night. My 1st reaction is that the Soul is another one and done. It's not just the Soul, it seems as if the game has lost it's soul.

Obviously the best soccer players in the US are playing outdoors.People want to see skilled players. Why do messi and ronaldo comand the highest salaries and draw the most fans. I agree with most of what you said. I would give Les a break as he has only done a couple games. One rule I would like to see implemented is the goalkeeper must stay in his box. I think that would eliminate some of the slowing down of the game where the goalkeeper walks the ball up.

But some of the bestsoccer players in the world played in the original version of the misl(Stamenkovic, Terlecki, Zungul, Tatu, Vee, Haskivi, Segota, etc...). Noother indoor league has comeclose to dyplicating the quality of the original MISL. Some, like the current misl, are basically second division-minor league versions. Look at the players on the rosters...very few have played ist division professional soccer outdoors. The consumer has to be a tad savvy, also. You have to know what you're buying. I mean, why would I buy a ticket for xxxxxx amount of dollars to see some of the soul guys when I can see the same guys play in some of the local ethnic leagues...that's what a consumer HAS to be saying to himself.
